NIC mounted! :D
I'm continuing on with the 1U design. It's going to be tight but I think I can pull it off.

I think this is the most I've used my calipers since I bought them. Glad I got a good pair, such a useful tool.

Design so far. Blue posts represent mounting holes for standoffs. I cut the case down to the part I'm working on to save time and filament during prototyping.

Is that a PCIE3.0 4x lane? Is that enough for those 10ge connections?

The downstream ports are x4 but the upstream port is x1. I'm not going to get the full 10G but I did testing here /gallery/ibycbb4 it's still much faster than the onboard 1G or a USB 2.5G @ 7.26/6.44 Down/Up

I'm very interested to see if I can multiplex a 4x connection for nVME connectivity.... Would save me a fortune, since I've already got a PI4 just haning around, and I need to offload some faster storage. Hmmm

Well the Pi4 doesn't have native PCIe access. Folks have made mods to steal the lane from the USB3 controller, but it's gen2. Pi5 has a free x1 gen3 port built in
