Noticed this during thr last post I made. Restricting users to a static list feels like such a sterilization of the quirky charm that is Imgur.
IDK if this is just android-mobile or the entire platform.
Making unique and comedic tags is one of the little features that I enjoy. Taking that away seems like a real slap in the face to the community's autonomy...

It was fun while it lasted.

Hasn’t this been going on for a long time? Unless I’m misunderstanding what we are talking about. You can still input tags that are on the static list. You just input the name and hit “enter”.
spittleteets
Yes, you used to but not anymore...

Imgur has been absolute shit for a good while now.
DutchBoeremeisie
This has been true for a while for me on desktop. You can still add any tag you wish using # in your post text.
spittleteets
True, didn't even think ab this hashstag work around. Appreciate this!
DutchBoeremeisie
You're very welcome. I remember being stupidly relieved when I realised it would give me a work around the stupid pre-selected tags.

I noticed the same thing just the other day.

Which tag couldn't you search for?
spittleteets
I wanted to make a pun/joke tag, "whale of a good time". (Last post was ab humpback whales)
Ambipolar
I think that on the web you can search for any tag that exists and you can make up any tag you want, for example #whale of a time is a tag

So maybe it's something they did different on the app (as they've done with a lot of stuff) or maybe there's just some trick you have to do if you happen to be on android.
