I saw this picture on Reddit, and I had to look into it. It turns out it’s all true! However, the two mating snails later mated with Jeremy as well, so he DID get laid.

Unfortunately, his offspring were all right-coiled snails, and he died before he could mate again.

It’s still a crazy story!

That’s the full story of how they found him, his search for a mate, his initial rejection, and then success in getting laid.

I’m not sure why Jeremy died, but it didn’t have to do with mating. A lot of male animals in the animal kingdom die after mating, but snails are not one of those species.

Perhaps old age? However, snails can live up to ten years in captivity, so I’m not sure.

His slimy, left-coiling soul will forever live on in our hearts! ❤️

All I could think about is that one horror anime about spirals and the two high school boys who turn into snails and produce offspring together.

Organic chemistry is pretty interesting stuff. Molecules often have a mirror copy that is reversed in space. Amino acids are this way having left handed and right handed versions. While life could have developed one way or the other, we happened to develop from the left handed versions. Consequently drugs can also have mirror copy versions as well, but some don't work because your receptors require the spatial orientation of one and not the other.
