On my way to 6 month smoke free, and my quality of life has increased significantly. I gained weight, true, but a friend of mine, who is a doctor said to me "is preferable to be fat, than to be a smoker". Keep up the good work!
I would like to say that you are past the hump, but that's when it gets you. Gas stations was my trigger for another pack. I would pay for the gas and see all those cigs on the wall. Cracked more than a couple times. I had to get the wife to go in and pay for at least a year.
this. Smoking is not just the cigarettes, it's highly ritualistic, with lots of triggers. There's the link between paying for gas and buying cigarettes. There's the reward of getting them, the anticipation of opening the carton, what you personally do with the packs, opening a fresh pack vs getting a cigarette from an open one - I'd watch my mom go through all these personal rituals. She begged, threatened, cajoled, and tried to bribe anyone in the IR to get her some cigarettes. Break free.
my friends the same way ...that or after we eat and stuff...i switched to zyns so whenever we hang out he doesn't get triggered ..plus i can breathe better
I got a free can of Zyn at the gas station about two weeks ago and I'm down from a pack of cigs per day to about 5 cigs each day. The Zyns have helped a lot with that.
And I haven't replaced the cigs with zyn 1 for 1. I'm at like 5 cigs and 3-4 Zyn per day.
Even not fully quitting it's a helluva lot cheaper.
Congrats! I semi-recently passed my one year. I'd like to tell you that it gets easier. The feeling of wanting one never fully goes away though, so be prepared for that. Just maintain your willpower, and you'll be able to keep moving. You've made it this far, you can make it farther.
Hey, congratulations! Which app are you using here? Also, random question, but my boyfriend has been smoking for over 20 years (since he was 10yo, unfortunately).... Are you in a similar boat, and what advice would you give him? Thanks in advance, and congrats again!
Congratulations. I'm happy for you. On the other hand I started to drink again because there is so bad shit happening to me that only getting drunk makes it better ( I know it doesn't but at the moment I don't care). Keep going...
You made it! 90 days is a great head start on beating those tobacco company execs who want us all dead. If you're anything like me, you'll still have cravings/ weak moments when you'll be tempted and tested. Stumbling across an area where smokers hide out from their co-workers, seeing an old friend who still smokes & wanting to ask for one, etc. etc. But at this point, you are on the path that leads to respecting your body enough to stay clear of poisons. Stay upwind of them!
Congrats, this is a huge step. But, as a former smoker I’ll warn you of something. When you get stressed, find food. It’s been almost 10 years since I quit, and everytime I get stressed, I want a cigarette. It helps me to eat something sugary.
Seeing them in places that sell them can increase temptation so try not to look, pay for your stuff, and walk out quick. I’ve found myself buying packs, and being grossed out but the smell, while telling myself “I can have one, I won’t get addicted.”

I'm on day 64. Get your blood sugar checked. I was not aware but apparently quitting smoking has a good chance of making you diabetic.

Day one million in binary! Woohoo!

This risk is temporary and may be linked to weight gain that sometimes follows smoking cessation. 1/2
theyallwenttoMexico
2/2 Over the long term, quitting smoking significantly reduces your risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and many cancers.

GOOD JOB! I’m approaching my 4th week without. And I hung out with my one smoker friend yesterday and was able to refrain from having one.

After 23 years of smoking, I am now on day 759 cigarettes free. I thought it was impossible.

One of the benefits of quitting that surprised me was the pride I felt in myself for quitting. :)

I'm happy for you. My dad died and awful death from lung cancer this year - 60 year smoker. My mom died too, but she was resuscitated.

She was also a 60 year smoker, but isn't a smoker anymore.
