So, I was washing dishes and had my hand in a glass cup. As I was washing the rim of it the cup and it broke turning my finger into sushi.
Wasn't the best thing that could happen to me now... I have no health insurance so I'm in the works trying to get this paid for by a non profit. But man it's just been one thing after another!
The cut was pretty deep. There was SOO much blood. Normal bandaid wasn't going to stop this one. I waited longer then I should of tbh to go to the urgent care.
But once there holding my hand with a blood covered towel, they made me sign in using their mobile app. I'm right handed so this took forever doing it left. After about 30 or so mins of checking in and 2-3 people going in ahead of me. I'm still bleeding in the lobby.
They finally get to me, and they take another 15 -20mins for the NP to come in.
She puts me up on the table and starts to take a look, * I'm still bleeding pretty opening * she comes back and has a bunch of stuff.
1st, She gave the area a shot with a numbing med has me wait another 10 mins or so for it to kick in fully. She comes back and starts to try to then stitch up the wound. She seemed to be struggling a bit while doing this. After 3 stitches she was like " I can't stop the bleeding". Then makes the call to just remove the 3 stitches she put in patch me up with gooze and refer me to the nearest ER. Oooof!
At the ER, Thank god it was much quicker to check in. I was in the lobby for mebbe 10 mins then got called back. The nurse on hand took a look, had me soak my hand in this what I assume was antibactierial mix of water while I waited for the Doctor to come in.
He was super friendly and took some time to chat about my medical history and then started to take a look at the wound. He was like " Ya, you got yourself pretty good there didn't ya.". He steps away to go grab some equipment and supplies. He comes back saying, "Sorry that took so long had to watch a youtube video on how to do stitches." lol, I laughed , the man knew how to do his job really well. He gave me a shot of the numbing meds almost double what the urgent care did. I could really tell the differenece. After a while he put on his head lamp had me turn my whole arm over and started to get to work.
He was talking about random stuff with me as he was working, time kinda just pasted before I knew it and he had put in a total of 8 stitches in my finger! 8! the Urgent care was trying to only put in 3! Crazy!
Doc gave me a bag of goodies for keeping it clean and new bandages every 24hrs.
and to come back in 2 weeks to get the stitches removed and to check on the healing progress.
I really hope 2025 beings better luck, because this is just getting silly now. Can't catch a break! I've must of walked in front of some cursed black cat, broke a mirror, forgot to knock on wood, w/e else superstitious voodoo in my life to warrant this much bad luck lol.
Thank god for caring non-profits that can help people like me get things like this covered, Since I don't have any way of paying such a crazy amount of bills. Not just for the ER visit but the Urgent Care will want to be paid as well. Not sure why should. They couldn't fix the problem and had to refer me! But we all know how the American Healthcare system is! *spits on ground* lol.
Thanks for taking to the time to read my post. ;) I'll post updates on healing when I can!
if you would like to help me out a little bit I was recommended to use a Paypal.me. it's more trusted and doesn't take a % of the donation. Ty.

Ouch! Glad you had such a great doctor at the ER, when they have people skills it makes such a huge difference. Last time I was there I was super scared and the doc wasn’t the best at handling that. Good luck with the bills, I’m facing an atrocious amount of medical debt WITH insurance!

TY! oh god , I hope you are okay and get better! Amercian Healhcare really needs a full rework! It's so bad! healthcare should be a right for everyone living in a 1st world country!

Oh I forgot to mention, Doctor said there is no Tendon or Nerve Damage that he can tell. I'll know more when the stitiches come out! I can feel the tip, but I was told not to bend or make a fist so I don't rip the stitches out. Here hoping for no complications!

Just the tip?

I now basically have a phobia of putting my hands in glasses to wash them from this same thing.

Always go to the ER. Urgent care is not equipped for time sensitive things
CountryGuyMike
They really should remove the Word " URGENT " From then name then lol, Mebbe, " Get To It Soon Care " or something, Because by the time I got to the ER, I was feeling pretty light headed. Was just crazy. They see a bleeding person and their 1st thing is " Hey Sign in .. Theres 3 people ahead of you."
jalcantara88127001
Yeah they really are only good for like flu and COVID stuff. I have had a few experiences like that. Worst part is the copay is similar to er anyways.

Urgent care is for things that are too urgent to wait for your doctor's office to open in the morning or for them to have an opening for you.

How to apply for financial assistance
Search for your hospital’s financial assistance policy.
In a search engine, type the hospital name and “financial assistance” to find their policy. Or call the hospital and ask for details about their financial aid policy.
If you’re already at the hospital, ask for a copy of their policy. https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights/help/guides/financial-assistance

Ya, my father works close with hospitals and medical people. I'm currenlty living with him atm due to life iissues.. He's the one who took me to the Urgent Care and ER. He knows I don't have healthcare and made sure I let them know and get things rolling that way. I basically told them I have no money to pay for this and they were really nice about it and gave me all the forms. It's just going to take time now. In the end. I can't pay a dime. It's not ideal but you can't really milk a dry utter.

Fingers bleed A LOT. I t's kind of weird really. I've only bothered to one stitched up, and that was because a friend demanded I fo to ER. Save some money if you're brave and pop out the stitches yourself. Snip with finger mal clippers and tweezer them out.

lol, I don't mind the blood and gore part of injuries. But I have to go back to make sure its not going necrotic on the very top of the cut. It was basically a flap of skin. Plus the Doc wants to make sure I can still bend it and have feeling along the cut. Might not be the cheap way, but It will atleast set my mind at easy knowing everything is fine.
