Ah, the "Pale blue dot" photo. You can see earth there.
Mickazilla
I guess I have a new desktop wallpaper now.
jeips
this photo changed my life. It made me want to do more space things. I left a 12+ year career in banking, went to college in my 30s, got a degree in math using the Tsiolkovsky rocket equations, and now work in software.

The rings on the dark side of Saturn do not align with the rings in sunlight…..is this, refraction, reflection or time dilation?
MisspentYouth333
Amazing, almost seems like an artist’s rendition - it’s that good
BehGehBeeeehh
IIRC, the small white dot just outside the bright inner rings is the Earth, or am I thinking of a different picture?
Dudeitsonlyme
Now that is actually a pretty cool photo thank you.
LittleChickadee
This is one of my favorite NASA pictures! It's my desktop pic <3. Absolutely stunning
BehGehBeeeehh
Me, too! Not the exact picture, but the same composition stretched across both monitors.

Saturn's behind is not to be sneered at; unlike Uranus.

I remember expressing gratitude at the time, that I was living at a time where I could see marvels like this.
anSSLerrorhasoccuredandasecureconnectiontotheservercannotbemade
I misread this and I thought you said you were giving gratitude for *where you were living and I was thinking this bitch ain’t in space, she lying…
MyDragonHeartedSpirit
What you talking about? All us bitches in space!
Hypothesist
Can’t 100% prove bitch ain’t
SpotlightStealer
Probably wouldn't be able to post on imgur about it if a bitch did XD

Sun: Stop taking picture of me during eclipses, everyone can see my pimple!!!!
Iaimtomisbehave
That is a great image OP! One of my favorite "stacked" images of a "Very Big Thing" (The Sombrero Galaxy).

Aww m104, my favorite :)

Btw, let's hope Chandra can get a replacement.

I think one of my favorite astrophotographs I took was it 4-Hour exposure of Orion on a 35 mm 1.2 lens that showed the streams of nebulosity like Barnard's Loop Etc. Before I move I'd like to try to do some of these with the 200 mm 1.8 on feet extended stuff like the cygnus loop

I mean...if it wasn't seen from behind...would it be much of an eclipse?
Ploty
Thanks for sharing, it's amazing
invenio
Now that is an eclipse I would really like to see in person.

The first rapture was on Saturn... Got it.
MisterLemons
I'm going to throw this out there: you don't need a fantastic telescope to see the planets. A tabletop dobsonian will get you some pretty stellar views.

It's not life changing to see these things up close, but even when blurry, it's amazing to see them with your own eyes and just how 'close' they are.
ByThePowerOfSCIENCE
Absolutely. I remember the first time I saw Saturn directly with a 10" LX200 and going like "yep, there it is, with the ring and bit missing from the shadow, and a hint of a stripe or two". And the Moon now was "terrain", with relief and shadows.
