TMI warning***
So something is terribly wrong with my insides. My entire life I've had stomach problems. At 19 my gallbladder stopped working and after the 7 months of torture my doctors finally figured it out. Even after they removed it I never got completely better.
Whatever is wrong with me has been going into overdrive trying to kill me this year, and I've finally starting seeking a diagnosis. ***I get the equivalent of the stomach flu once a week at this point. I get excrutiating abdominal pain, sulfer burps, throw up bile almost exclusively, and everything runs through me like a river to the point that I need a towel under me at all times. Nausea medicine no longer helps at all. My GI doc ran some tests a few weeks ago and found my white blood cell count and inflammatory markers were through the roof.
Yesterday i finally got a colonoscopy and endoscopy where they found nothing. I almost cried when they told me this. I got sick again today and ended up in the ER when the pain got too bad. After multiple doses of morphine and a couple bags of saline it was manageable. They did a CT which showed a lot of inflammation and I almost cried in relief that they found something. It's not a diagnosis but it's something. A step in the right direction.
I'm at my limit. I'm terrified to eat. I'm terrified I'm going to lose my job. I haven't worked there long enough to use FMLA, and can't afford to just not have a job.
I've gotten to the point where if my stomach gets upset I have to fight off a panic attack and keep from crying because I know how much I'm going to hurt later.
I just need an answer. Any diagnosis. I have no idea what's wrong with me and it's terrifying. I wish I hadn't ignored being sick in my 20s. Now I'm looking at insane medical bills and trying not to think about it.
TL;DR - I'm really sick and don't know why. I'm hitting a wall trying to deal with it and I'm scared.
Just needed to vent. Let it die in usersub or whatever.

I probably can't be of much help, but do you also get very hungry, and then the burps and pain get very bad right after you eat?
SugarLoaf23
Sometimes, especially if I eat fast. I've been trying to eat smaller portions but that only seems to help a little bit

Hmmm, the list of symptoms was really reminiscent of the time that I got giardia, which I thought might not be an obvious thing to look for. But in that case, it very much happened every time I ate anything. And as soon as the pain subsided, I'd get ravenous again. I hope you find the answers that you need. <3

Your symptoms sound very, very similar to what I had been going through for the longest time. Have they tried allergy tests? Recently found out that on top of my Hashimoto's, I also have Alpha-Gal Syndrome (tick bite disease). Maybe you have something you're severely allergic to? I hope you start feeling better!

I've been wondering that, but when I asked about allergy tests and my useless PCP just ran the basic eggs/seafood/dairy/nuts panel and said that was the only food allergy test there was. Which seemed sus. I should ask my GI about it

Yes, I'd definitely bring it up. It wouldn't hurt to ask, and it may help you figure some things out! It's absolutely frustrating, but hang in there! I'm on day 10 of a vegan & gluten-free diet (to remove allergens from diet), and while I miss a lot of my favorite food, my stomach hasn't been upset or hurting. Definitely talk to your G.I. good luck hun!
