It is 3:30 AM. My alarm goes off in two hours.
I have a dozen tiny worries that are amplified a million times over and I cannot unravel them.
So here’s a picture that illustrates my feeling of being trapped and no longer able to perform my most basic function.

Edit: Nodded about 440ish and got 2 1/2 hours. I’ll take what I can get. Thank you, Void Denizens, for listening.

insomnia

frustration

I hope you find your peace.

You can message me if you like. If you just need to vent or rant I can remain silent. If you want to talk through some things or are looking for advice I can tell you what I know.

Worry sucks. I empathize.

Naw Dude,,,,, Those are custom built and “antiqued” (whatever the FuckDatIs🥰) for a double-leg-amputee convention 👍👍

Purpose-built. I’m gonna start calling myself that. Thank you.

A weighted blanket and some melatonin about a half hour before bed have really helped me fall asleep without falling into a worry trap.

Hopefully, you know not to take melatonin for more than 5 days in a row. If you do, your body will stop making its own naturally, and you become dependent on taking melatonin.

True. But that's the same with pretty much all sleep aids. Melatonin doesn't zonk me out or give me side effects the next day like prescription sleeping pills. My doctor say 5mg or less a night should be fine. I take 3mg a few nights a week.

+1 =) And @OP, if you need an ear to vent to instead of the void, feel free to PM =)

Thank you. If I am still here at 430 I probably will

Shit, looks like I stole your line.

No worries =) I can't be everywhere and it always warms my heart when someone beats me to it =)

Insomnia is the worst, especially the hours before dawn. Also, this is giving me flashbacks to scout camp.

Turn off your phone. Close your eyes. Imagine a tiny black dot. Focus on that dot. When you mind starts to drift and you start thinking of other things; STOP! Now focus on that black dot. Focus on nothing except that black dot!

Doesn't work with ADHD. I need to occupy my brain with other things so that it will leave me in peace to sleep.

Learn to quiet your brain. Try meditation. Learn mindfulness.

I have ADHD. My sleep rhythm doesn't adhere to day and night like most people's do. If I am in a quiet dark room, my brain goes into hyperdrive to make up for the lack of stimuli. I have a clock in my bedroom. I watch documentaries with a strong voiceover so that I can turn over and keep listening once I get sleepy. Please stop assuming what works for some people work for everyone. I have had more than one sleep therapist having no issue with my method. You don't know more than them.

Oh and btw, I've done meditation and mindfulness, neither works well for me
