Long story short my contract dried up and I've been pounding the proverbial pavement each day trying to find a new gig writing code.

I could have taken this step while I was comfortably employed and planned around it, but clearly smart financial decisions and business planning are not my strong suits.

So after years of small print runs and friends telling me I should produce it for real I finally dropped the few grand just when I'd need it the most.

I don't know what to say or how to feel about it. I'm scared, and excited. It's a big step that I always talked about and then finally took out of some weird desperation.
I've been obsessing over the website and print materials for it, and have been trying to brainstorm presentations, conventions, charity donations, giveaways, etc.

I literally threw myself several thousand dollars into the deep end of a new & foreign venture with no plan.
I just keep hearing the words, "those who fail to plan are those who plan to fail" and now I'm trying to play catch up on myself.

Anyhow.

I must be math-challenged. How does four shapes of four colors each equal 99 cards?

How does the game of deception work?

“…clearly smart financial decisions and business planning are not my strong suit.” Truer words have never been spoken. I look forward to the gofundme post when you can’t make rent.

Soinds like you are leaning in the direction of making digital games. Maybe you can connect with some vr devs in a few years. Might be a whole nother life 5 years from now. You are building.

The SBA and SCORE are great free resources. Def check them out! Also check out meetup in your area - may be groups for startup founders, and gaming groups for playtesting and dare I say it, buying some of your games? Congrats, op! may your lemons make the best lemonade ever.

What is SBA and SCORE? Googling these words + games doesn't help at all.

You have any experience with ML? My team might have a spot for you.

Nothing substantial. I've been handling mostly backend wiring but would love the chance to get immersed in it proper.

Sounds like Uno but with shapes instead of numbers, would be easier for little kids who don't know how to read numbers yet. I played a similar one recently (but more of a go fish theme) with fruit, colors, and shapes with my daughter that I really enjoyed!

Yeah. I demo'd it last year at the local games store with my daughter and that's where I got really convinced to try and do this. Every timid and uncertain youngster turned into Las Vegas card shark inside of one round. Watching their 4 years olds unironically winning put the biggest smile on everyone's face.

when you get the website or whatever store front set up send me a link

Cheers. I've been working hard to get it going and it's nearly there.

No... Send us all a link, keep us updated, a lot of us here can help out. Good luck.

Speak for yourself.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

“a lot of us” =/= “all of us”

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

What a valuable contribution. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to enlighten "a lot of us" who are big dumb dummies and lack basic reading comprehension.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey, you're the one who decided to lump yourself in with the group and then said "speak for yourself". You could have just as easily decided you weren't one of the "a lot of us" and not said anything.

Looks like this is the game: https://www.crazyshapes.ca/ seems like a simple fast game. Good luck op.

Yeah, the site is mostly working but the checkout flow still has some issues. I should probably not have it sitting live 🤷

Tried to buy them, System won’t let me - I’m in the U.S…..

Fuck the system

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah the site still has some glitches and I need to maybe wire in some other shipper like UPS.
The production run isn't due to be here for another few weeks.

With all sincerity I didn't expect this sort of response.
Thank you kindly, everyone, even the naysayers.

So, basically UNO without special cards. It claims there is a second way to play, but I don't find the rules.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I think the second rules are the ones about using full sets. Like 3 red squares on the blue square last played.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It really does sound just like Uno with shapes instead of numbers.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Faster and no screwing people over. Like bullshit crossed with Uno - drama. Sounds like a good game for kids and people that just want to chill.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Literally this. I was really surprised but after the second house party I had to admit adults could enjoy it.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but the problem with card games is that small children can't really hold them in the hand, and larger children probably want more interesting gameplay. I might be wrong, though, I've never played uno without the special cards.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The cards are very much kid sized 🫵😎
