Why is it that seemingly whenever they catch some child predator it inevitably turns out to be one of three professions: (1) "youth pastor" (2) Republican politician or (3) cop?

Power.

Because abusers deliberately seek out positions of power in order to gain access to a steady source of supply and be protected from the consequences of their actions.

The "sexual misconduct" that the Republican Senator in question was arrested for was because he went to a bathroom that gay men frequent and he used a discrete sign to indicate he wanted to hook up with someone. That is it. His arrest was profoundly homophobic and shouldn't be celebrated even if he was a right-wing asshole.

I mean, isn't having sex in a bathroom stall illegal? I'm all for not arresting someone because the reason was gay and I'm not the most up to date on what constitutes a crime but I believe eliciting someone to do something illegal is also a crime.

Would need more information but solicitation is a crime in many states yeah, public lewdness could also apply depending on what the scenario was. I'm trans mtf and I've always been some degree of queer even before I transitioned so I know from experience these hookup spots are rarely "let's to get a hotel room" type things.

If this was at the Minneapolis airport, he tapped his foot under the stall next to him, possibly touching the foot of the person next to him and waving his hand under the stall.
His defense was "I have a wide stance". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Craig_scandal

Saw someone walk through the definition of "grooming" and how every part of it is something that christians do.

All religions do this

I think it was this video, made by survivors of evangelical christianity:

But thats the "right" way to live one's life because otherwise conservatives would have to come to terms with the fact that they dont know what the fuck they're doing with their lives

6 hours ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

But how? Without "God" in their life they still have to work, to pay rent, get food, pay medical bills. Not like "God" provides all of this and protects them and without, their lives would be totally upended. It's like one day Santa isn't real, changes nothing really. End Democracy and life gets all fucked up.

The parasocial relationship people have with religion tells them God not existing actually does change things, but if you tell them god is in there head they get a real big ego about it, humanities relationship with religious is more complex than reddit atheist like to believe.

Way back we volunteered at a community church. We moved had recently so the kids and I didn't have a circle of friends etc and they knew kids at the church. A good way to meet people, and get a feel for the area. 90% were amazing people. But there definitely was an element of psychological grooming from some. Personally I have always been self reliant and even keel. But the pastors chats were always "what are you struggling with today? We can help". Me " its all good here".

Him, " no everyone is sinking and needs help". Um gaslight much?

For my one child whom was also super self reliant, independent, they always were trying to question that and mess with it. They had a camp, and somehow out of 30 kids they were the only one whos home care package went missing, and food order messed up, and a few other weird things.

Its like a plan to purposely pull out the rug so you rely on Jesus.

We stopped going after that stage. Which was too bad because

There were a lot of amazing people that actually were just decent humans and weren't pushing god in every sentence.
