So, I might have done a heresy with the $5 Lego Falcon Set

When I first saw the set I couldn't help but think it could make for an interesting attempt at a Star Trek build, and it didn't disappoint. I tried a few different designs before settling on the NX-01

My goal was to use most, if not all, of the parts in the set, and aside from one of the round flats, I succeeded!

The underside is kept fairly simple, but I was proud of the impulse engines that I ended up with. It was a nice happy accident that they worked out like that. The little dark grey pieces came in clutch for adding stability in places not easily seen.

Side profile is good, but the nacelles are the one aspect that I'm not happy with, but I had limited parts in the kit and they worked out well enough.

Red Alert! Doggo sighted!

@op, Heresy?… Nah, you did the right thing. LLAP!

At first I thought you were going to combine the two starships into one new unique one, which would have been pretty cool. Actually looking at the two side by side the Star Trek ship is kinda just a backwards Millenium Falcon with a football goal post tacked on

Funny enough, that was the thought I had that led to me messing around with the set! The NX design was basically perfect for this project.

I might have picked up a few more of these Falcon sets and built an Akira and Constellation class as well!

Great job! That NX-01 is awesome mate, such a great looking ship. Millennium Falcon looks good as well

The Falcon was the official set, and I agree, it's one of the best designs that Lego has put out for their $5 bags in a long time.

Hey, you used the pieces that came in the kit outside of the suggested combination that makes a different build. Pretty sure Lego doesn't require people to use their kits to build exactly what the book (or sheet or whatever) has on it. Play well, however you want.

I will make it legal.

Dang, good job! That almost looks like it could be what the model was *meant* to be heh. Nicely done.

Love it! But watch out...

It's easy to forget that the core design idea for both of these is "flying saucer," albeit in very loose terms

This is illegal.

That's good work. And anyone telling you can't enjoy Star Wars and Star Trek at the same time is an eedjit.

Funny thing, I'm a hardcore Trekkie. My girlfriend is a hardcore Star Wars nerd.

I love Star Trek. I love Star Wars. I'm excited that I will be able to have Picard, Luke, Batman, and Spiderman all teaming up against...

I think I might pick up another one and try to build an Akira class next.

There's an entire industry over on Rebrickable from people taking specific sets, such as the midi-scale Star Wars ships, and figuring out what can be made from only the parts in the seat. The midi-scale Falcon is absurdly versatile as it turns out.

No worse heresy than what Disney did to the franchise

Funnily enough, when Legends did the same plot no one had a problem with it, and they had much worse things going on than Disney. Not that there aren't legit criticisms of that movie, though I'd put it all on JJ not having a solid plot and relying on his bloody mystery boxes
