So I picked up some poster board, cut up one of my grading plans, fired up my band saw, and...

Made a quick and shitty model that will hopefully explain things visually.

For those who are interested, my coworker is a 20 year user of Microstation and I'm attempting to teach her Carlson/IntelliCad. I did a basic intro last Friday, covered drafting techniques Tuesday, will do contouring/grading tomorrow and then maybe point management next week.

She's doing pretty well despite my lack of teaching prowess. Hopefully she'll continue picking it up and won't throw her hands up in frustration. And I hope this visual aid helps too.
