Solar Eclipse Prep

Sep 14, 2023 5:16 PM

Getting ready for the annular eclipse next month means that I've got to do a bunch of equipment and methodology preparations. What you're seeing here is a frame comprised of 15 seconds or so of data. Note that there are four 'blips' that occur for a frame or so over the course of the video.

Working with a Lunt 100mm Universal telescope with ASI432MM Camera as main capture atop a Celestron CGX mount.

These 'blips' are airplanes that were crossing between me and the sun from Burbank airport near me.

Are you planning a trip for April? I'm not going to ask for your exact spot, but what do you look for in a viewing location?

I am planning a trip for April, but I'm currently prepping for the October 14th annular eclipse next month. I've got a place set in NM.
