Sounds like judgemental people can go try their best at something and get called out on their mistakes. So long as you try your best, it doesn’t always mean you have to be the best. And if you do make a mistake, you have the choice to stick to your guns and try again, or learn from the critical input. No shame should be involved for sincere effort.
I'm surrounded by people who know how everything in the world works and are perfect at everything they do on the first try because of their perfect foresight, planning, and execution, all taking the variability of reality into account with flawless statistical analysis. Somehow, everything around them is still shit and I have to clean up messes constantly. Makes me wonder.
However, I think @admiralwonderboat is showing us how, no matter how successful we have been, our own thoughts and feelings can attack us when we stumble.
For me it's been more about thought training. Recognising the bad thoughts and trying not to repeat them. It's not always successful though, but I think learning about self- kindness is really important.

Every time I made a mistake, no matter how small, a loud voice in my head would tell me KYS. It's almost gone now.

What helped? I'm taking Setraline atm, and it seems to have helped a bit.
