You don't fuckin say that my anxiety might keep me up at night?!?!?! EUREKA

It's probably a combination of the blue light from electronics and the, once again rising, threat of thermonuclear annihilation

*looks at the cost of everything skyrocketing* Ya think just maybe there's a connection here?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yes, and water is wet.

How about fixing this corrupt end-stage capitalist hell-fuck-scape?

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Yeah, it's nice that there's therapy available, but what about fighting the rise of mental problems at the source?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I really wished CBT worked for me. :( All it's ever done is make me more anxious.

& a GIGANTIC LINK between both insomnia/depression & financial insecurity.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And those awesome doctors 'Oh u can't sleep cuz your depressed' then (5 seconds later) 'oh your prob just depressed cuz you can't sleep!'

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey, I have all three of those! CBT can fuck off, though. Did not like, not at all

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm just awake because I hate that we have to be awake during the day to do things. With my ADHD and Depression.

Had heart attack in April. I’m 38. Heart is ok, arteries great, cholesterol great. Said heart was tearing itself up from stress. Asked >

About sleep and explained 5/7 nights a week I get less than 5 hrs sleep, if at all. Usually avg 20-30 hrs a week on sleep. Been that way >

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For years but now starting to get some traction and help with it since it’s causing other health issues. Will ask doctor about that CBT

I solved my insomnia by thinking of Henry Cavill each night before bed. Can't say it helps much with the mental illness, though.

Hence the Ambien, Xanax, Lunestra, Melatonin....

Problem is us nightshifters will never be able to have a well regulated sleep schedule. 14 years of Night Shift here.

My insomnia always acts up more when I'm having bad anxious/depressive episodes. I just assumed it was common knowledge.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"No shit"- anyone with a mental illness

2 years ago | Likes 230 Dislikes 1

Afaik getting diagnosed w/ anything is a double edged sword. Shit costs money and more importantly time.

I have insomnia and I don't have a mental illness. Sure, I have anxiety, anti-social tendencies, and mild depression but. ... Ffffuck

You forgot fear of rejection, compulsive need to please people, oversharing patter... holy fuck, shit.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Well shit. Thanks for punching me right in the nuts, friend.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sorry friend, I didn't see you there, I punched so hard in mine, it blinded me for a few minutes.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is painfully accurate.

Let me put it this way, I'm at the end of a 2 week vacation and I only slept poorly one day and that was when I drove most of the day and>

I found it easier to correct my "sleep shift disorder" by abandoning my career and choosing a job during my typical waking hours.

WFH has been a massive boon to me maintaining my career. No full days at the office miserable from migraines and lack of wakefulness 9-5

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good job man! I tried to make night shift work for a few years like an idiot. Eventually I figured out that it wasn't worth the 10% extra.

Last time I looked in 2020 my insurance posted $900/hour prices to speak with a psychiatrist.

Where does one get digital CBT i

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I want to know too. I’ve sort of created my own by playing the same playlist of classical music every night for 13 years. It’s helped a bit.

But if I sleep, then the Whisper Beasts can come into my room and do terrible things to me.

Thanks for posting this (& for the excellent cropping). ?

Thanks for the appreciation. :)

I sleep better when I'm not on-line much. And sleeping better = less depression, so... are we ready to consider reducing our on-line time?

2 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Never!!!!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What next, exercise? Eating a proper diet? Stop drinking coffee every day? I think not.

But if you work remotely, how will you prove you're actually being productive? /s

I dislike this as it makes it sound like drugs are never needed to help. Source: still don't sleep for crap. I've given up asking 4 help.

Too tired to read all of this

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh shit. I should look into this.

Chicken or the egg.

I will not let someone tie me up and step on my nuts just because I can't sleep.

Recommend the book Say Goodnight To Insomnia. CBT based. It actually works.

The start of it is long and self congratulatory, but the rest is good.

Thanks for the book recommendation! I'd say you've already helped 2 people get onto "the road of a better night sleep" :)

My bf has chronic insomnia. I work from home during the day and he lays awake in bed all through my shift. At 7pm he's awake until 8am.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I see him maybe 5 hours a day. He refuses to do anything about it, refuses to get help. Not sure what to do.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Why would he refuse to get help? Does he a job? Does he help around the house?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No job, he will help around the house when I ask him to. I've recorded him sleeping in his chair, he stops breathing for up to 30 secs

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gulps air then he doesn't breathe again for up to 30 secs. It's scary. It's scary to me, his mom, dad. But not him. He doesn't see a Dr

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If he doesn't want to get healthy and go out and have a life, maybe there's more to it, but I'm no doctor.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’d look into getting him a sleep study. Although plenty of Americans don’t take sleep seriously it isn’t something to mess around with.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

He has sleep apnea and it can kill him.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I don’t have insomnia, but I can’t remember the last time I slept and woke feeling refreshed I feel like it’s a superpower some folks have.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Had this back when my sleep apnea was untreated. Do you stop breathing a lot during sleep?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Had a sleep study done a while ago and was told no sign of apnea. I’ve been referred to a sleep psychologist, so we’ll see what they say.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

How do you treat it? Pretty certain I have it and I’m exhausted

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

CPAP machine for me. Sleeping a whole night is so frickin’ awesome! :D

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you notice yourself wake up during the night before? Because I feel like I’ve slept through all the way through the night but …

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

… my gf says I snore like a train and stop breathing constantly. I’m totally unaware of it
