Hi all, here are some manga I wanted to recommend. I'm choosing things I don't think you'll have heard of and can be read online for free (legally). Personally I read on MangaPlus but there are many options for the avid reader.

Maison and the man-eating apartment, a fairly new series with only 10 chapters translated so far. What is humanity to do in the last second before the entire Earth is engulfed in flames? Sequester themselves within the many walls of the man-eating apartment, a building that recycles everything within it. Stretching that single second into an infinite amount of time, but also all the people, historical records, and who knows what else. Maison is the newest 'landlord' in the apartment a strange title that imparts many duties to her she does for the people living in the apartment. But she also seeks to answer many of the apartment's mysteries for her own purposes, things like how to get in and out of decimal floors, where the large trash items go, what are the mysterious apartment men, and most of all where did her friend Bertie go and what did he see that made the apartment men recycle him early.

Styled in short mysteries that Maison tackles while slowly adding to her knowledge of how the apartment works in whole. The art reminds me of Made In Abyss and so does the strong element of intrigue.

Bug Ego! A new Shonen Jump monthly, stellar art by Kiyoto Shitara writing by the legendary ONE of ONE PUNCH MAN. Bug Ego can be terrifying at times but also hilarious within a few panels of each other. The members of the newly established walking club are secretly investigating real world 'hacks', ridiculous and often dangerous methods to cause inexplicable events or gain other-worldy powers. Making whatever is in front of you seem delicious, lucid dreaming, or even time travel all of this becomes possible when Kokudo discovered a journal filled with information on these hacks.

Great panels, off the wall writing, and the spontaneity of the hacks make Bug Ego work from a greater story perspective. But on a smaller level it's also about the friendship between the main characters, and whether their time together is really about each other or an obsession with the new world of hacks. So far only 10 chapters have been translated, but it's well worth the read at 30~ pages each chapter.

Syd Craft: Love is a Mystery, a romantic comedy from the mangaka behind the popular We Never Learn! This isn't very different from their other work but it's premise puts a smile on my face. Syd Craft is a master detective always one step ahead and solving impossible cases, the only problem is his genuine distaste for the detective lifestyle. Always in danger and putting on a cool face, when all he really wants to do is find a lover that shares his love of reading romance novels. It's got 28 chapters translated full of antics, oddball characters, and gags.

It's a much lighter read than the first two I've suggested. Don't expect the greater story to move forward much or characters to really grow so much as they dance in place. That said I'm enjoying much more than I expected. If you were a fan of We Never Learn! for sure take a look at this.

Blue Proustian Moment, two polar opposites Kozuki a straight A student from a prestigious academy and Moka a wild girl from a rowdy school have a fated encounter that drives them closer together. A romance about two girls from the same town but entirely different worlds, Kozuki's father owns the massive Azami corp whereas Moka lives with only her brother to support her.

How will their meeting change the two of them, and Kozuki's opinion of her father that is changing the town they both love but for different reasons. Will Moka find a true friend where all she could get before were shallow attraction and violent boyfriends. Blue Proustian moment has only 9 full chapters translated, but it's a strong story with clear purpose in it's writing without falling into cliche or one sided views of the issues or characters it portrays.

Nico Exorcists, is a story about mourning, told in the style of a battle manga. Gotsuji and Uruka work as exorcists cutting down evil spirits in their ultimate goal to slay a specific powerful spirit as a means of mourning the woman it killed. Gotsuji a workaholic that's become one of the best and Uruka who only recently returned to the job viewing it as the dangerous work that took her loved ones from her early.
27 translated chapters takes the story fairly far but Nico Exorcists clearly has a lot more to tell before it'll be nearing its climax.

Expressive art, plus some of the best panel use I've seen in recent memory, and all the usual value that comes from a well choregraphed and interesting battle manga. Even without the powerful themes about mourning and the core idea the story tests: that there is no wrong way to mourn this manga could stand on it's art, characters, and battles but there is much more to enjoy.

VERDUGO is an award winning one-shot, meaning it has just one chapter 90 pages long. Alec is a state executioner, accompanied by his dog and his daughter Flare so that she can write her school assignment on what her father does for work. On a job to execute three finger Joaco and facing serious opposition from the towns people. I want to keep my description short since it's such a short story in the first place.

Hilarious and heartwarming but serious when it needs to be in the world of working adults, VERDUGO is one of the best one-shots I've come across. If you enjoy this kind of bite-sized story then I can't recommend VERDUGO enough.

That's all I've got for now folks, thanks for sticking around if you did. I'm always looking for new things to read so if you have any suggestions for out of the norm manga/anime please put them in the comments or send a DM my way.

Do you know the name of a manga about some people that are basically sort of like Frankenstein and are hunting down humans with the best body parts while being pursued by a young boy with special blood and his giantess frankenstein body guard?
