Some pillows, blankets, lotions and tissues - a masterbatorium!

I had a space like this as a kid. It was a great place for a tv, Nintendo, and bean bag.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Rip it out and make a grand staircase.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

or a open foyer. It literally has no purpose!

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Timeout corner.

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If you got kids they'll use it

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Art gallery, wall of books/reading nook, kids/dogs play area, hobby corner, mini golf/bowling alley, hammock, fill the area with plants and greenery

Book nook, cubby corner, pet place...

Plants, plants, plants, plants...

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The space is tight, but maybe wall it off and put in a Murphy door. At this point you have a few options, and most aren't all mutually exclusive.

1. Turn it into a panic room to avoid raiders after the apocalypse

2. Use your house as a haunted house during Halloween and use that area to pop out behind people and scare them.

3. Have kids, play hide-and-go seek, become champion of your household.

4. Any other of a million things you can do with a hidden room

5. Cask of Amontillado

Add a stairway to the roof and have a roof deck there.

5 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nice reading chair location.

5 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

Litter box. Way out of the way, long run off for litter to fall off the cat, hard floor = easy to clean/ vacuum

5 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Toilet. Definitely a toilet.

5 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Narrow shelf storage? Books or other things...

5 months ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

If you were a computer nerd you could fit a server rack, or put a put put golf lane

5 months ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Put a chest there, with valuables and jewels and enchanted weapons in there

5 months ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

Book shelves

5 months ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 2

And a chair at the end, tall enough to place a cup of tea/coffee on the rail.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

1. Purchase a stinky kitty. 2. Put the stinky kitty's litterbox there.

5 months ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 1

3. put a fan directed at that window

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And a cat tree so they can look out the window!

5 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Hall of low light indoor plants

I would put a little alcove for my pets.

Extend the short wall around the stairs to the ceiling. Then knock out the wall and extend that room beside it. The door could be moved to beside the stair. If that room has two entrances you could leave the wall and make it a closet.

5 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Good thinking, though that wall to take down is probably structural, but props on the most practical and value-adding proposal so far. That awkward corner could easily become a large closet, or mini-walk in. I'd say they've done this to allow more light in so it's more spacious and brighter.

Air bnb it

600 a night in SF Bay Area or a 2k monthly rental.

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

That's where you hide the litterbox.

5 months ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

Why not bathroom where the human shitter is?

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Perfect so the smells can waft up to the bedrooms and down to the living areas

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

A wall and door there would be pretty easy, with a cat flap.

Stage 3 or just a mini one?

5 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Go big or go home!

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Stage 2 so you get the pew-pew but no rocket pods Pyros can reflect back.

5 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Protip right here. Also super hard to get backstabbed, even invisibly.

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Pyros can't deflect sentry rockets iirc

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Pyros can 100% reflect sentry rockets.

Pinball machine

5 months ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 2

Im not an avid pinball fan, but that seems to be a way for me to hone my skills.
Also. Shoot the builder/designer.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As an avoid pinball nerd... It's the only answer.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was going to say built in desk, but I like your idea better

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tommy? Is that you?

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I dunno. Did he play a mean pinball?

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He plays by sense of smell

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looking at it I would say you can’t fit a standard pinball machine, maybe a mini one. No Jaws premium for this guy.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THIS!!!!!…is a good idea, there’s even an outlet!

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I would look at it daily and hate the shitheels that designed, approved, and built that

5 months ago | Likes 681 Dislikes 5

Or use it to hide ans scare people

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bookshelves

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would put a dog bed there big enough for myself.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not nice but it's a way to get natural light into that hallway.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fill it with plants!!!

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes!!! You are speaking to a plant nerd

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was my first thought, even before realizing it went nowhere, that with that big window, it's just begging for plants. A huge monstera and a fern would be my start. I have great light and would love to fill my rooms with plants, but I have five cats and they will even mess with a pot full of cacti. (I tried it, lol) For years I've wanted to replicate how I once had a philodendron trailing from a pot all across a nearby door and window frame, but sadly, these critters sabotage my efforts.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's already how it's being used

5 months ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 1

It's where my son would hide when he's dismantling a remote or something of the like. At least I would know where to look.

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Looks to me like this was a way to get to another room in the other half of the house wbich no longer is accessible.

5 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

I disagree. It doesnt look like a doorway would even fit there

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I think it's probably the leftover of the first owner's mistake. Picked a house for a downslope to the left, but the downslope was to the right, and that meant the cars would have to enter the garage through a hill, or the back porch would face the street. So the builder just turned the basement around, but that meant the stairs ended in the garage. So he moved them just far enough they weren't a hole in anything structural. And that's where they wound up sticking out upstairs.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Given how tall and thin these doors look, I suspect there is some lens effects happening here.

5 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Extend the room next to it?

5 months ago | Likes 299 Dislikes 2

Check to see if that wall is load bearing before considering any major changes like that. Though dumb, it may need to stay like this... Or spend major $$$$$$ forcing it to work

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

You could easily put up walls and make it a closet, though. I'd make the back part a closet for the room next to the stairs, and then the "hallway" a closet for the room on the other side. The closet doors would necessitate holes, so those would have some cost if those walls are load-bearing. But way cheaper than moving the walls.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Walk in closet for the room next to it

5 months ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 1

Beat me to it.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Litter box location.

5 months ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I was thinking

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But then there's no natural light

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is if you remove the short wall at the end, and put in a longer window,

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The window makes that awkward

5 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Put up some shelves under the window for Objet d'art and other crap.

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Window in the closet. With an office at the back of the closet. Cloffice.

5 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What about the stairs?

5 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 8

The stairs are long enough already

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The room on one side of the stairs is right to the stairs do it to both sides and make the part at the back a closet in the rooms.

5 months ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

You could just angle the part above the stairs? Part of the room could then have either a closet with a slight angled wall.
Or hide the weird wall with a built in seat of some kind in the wall.
