Spring Shed Project

Jun 12, 2025 12:11 AM

The finished project first. This started when my in-laws had 7 leftover boards from their garden bed project. They were 12x2.5 inches by 8 feet in Western Red Cedar. They became the corners of this project.

This is the old shed. The door was mostly seized and the walls were damaged. It was always dark inside and hard to see anything.

After demolition. Gonna have to fix that fence now.

This is about 1/3 of the screws and nuts that came off the old shed.

I filled in the spaces with studs and covered them with 1x6 inch 8 foot boards.

To help cross brace, I installed a high shelf across the back.

I decided to recycle the old roof because it matches the roof on the house and garage. It’s a little dirty. I needed a friend to lift this down.

After pressure washing.

The door is assembled. It was heavy so I doubled up the hinges.

Donna and Jerry N., may their love last forever, are the previous owners of the house who poured the concrete pad. We also found one of these in the pad under the garage. Weird story - Donna was still the local mail carrier for some time after we moved in but is retired now.

To allow light, I put in one of these fixed PVC windows on either side.

Time to reinstall the roof. I called in a few buds as I wasn’t about to lift this alone. It was harder to get back up because the new walls are considerably higher.

The fit was a bit tight.

More fiddling.

The spilled birdseed sometimes attracts a friend.

We call them the outdoor pets.

There was a bit of a gap where the old roof met the new walls, so I chopped up some old cedar shingles I had saved from an old project.

Turning the corner.

Adjusted so the door can open.

Ordered these hooks for the inside.

The finished project.

After staining.

The indoor pets having a cuddle.

This is an Elk we saw In Waskisieu earlier this year.
