CBS…the network that caved to a bogus lawsuit and bribed Trump? That CBS? At least the last two letters in their acronym are accurate 😑

Late Night is dying. It'll be replaced with syndicated content.

As much as I'm inclined to feel like that's the case, this announcement has had me poking around various ratings for the different late night shows, and while they're not necessarily growing in viewership, it's not like they're tanking, either. Doesn't fit the corporate grow/consume model, I suppose, but it's also not "dying." At least, not to a degree that would override the sense that this was politically motivated.

If they thought Colbert was being hard on Paramount & Trump before, well, now he has nothing to lose. Release the dogs of war!

I wondered how they'll silence him or what they would have done to make him bend the knee. I never thought firing him would happen :( I hope Stewart isn't next

He/daily show absolutely will be on the block in the coming months or years.

When/if this ever ends, we will remember who the cowards were.

CBS has been wanting a merger with with Skydance for awhile, problem is with trump appointing a lackey in the FCC that merger can get delayed indefinitely unless they kowtow to the administration. I'm not saying CBS in in the right for cancelling Colbert I'm just saying this is a symptom of something much worse.

Good, we need The Colbert Report more than ever!

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No late show anymore, only a standard test image after nine.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The rest of his shows could cause a proper ruckus...

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's not because he made fun of the station, it's cause he commented about our pedo in chief

Perhaps he can get back with his buddy Mr. Stewart?

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

bad news... Comedy Central is also part of a Paramount...

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm wonder if the Daily Show's days aren't also numbered.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cobert Report after the Daily Show again?

2 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I've got bad news about who owns Comedy Central pal...

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And Jon Stewart already left Apple TV because they wouldn't let him criticize Apple. Where does satire go in an Oligarchy?

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Out of the country unfortunately.

I fucking hope so

Nothing to lose. Time for Colbert to go nuclear.

A purveyor of rosé and scented oils with a voyeurism fetish, didnt you see Monday's episode?

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

i don't watch TV

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Reference to the videos linked in the post that you didn't look at.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the question was "didn't you see Monday's episode?" and my response was "I don't watch TV"
I was answering the question, friend.

At least he has that business to fall back on

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

🤣 Sadly, not anymore... no mustache. He'd need to grow the Colbeard and fly to Türkiye again if he wants to revive Mister Stephen's salt'n'pepper cookie pusher. That's the only way he could be recognizable, beside his characteristic bergamot & pistachio liqueur based cocktail.

He literally made a joke/talked about this happening in the last few days when the parent company settled/bribed trump over a frivolous lawsuit

You know things are going well when media organizations are paying the president protection money

2 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

That won't even protect them in the end.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not even protection money, they have a merger coming up that they need government approval for, and we live in the time that finding a way to give the president millions is all but getting the green light.

They could've fought it( as several media companies did, it was a completely frivolous lawsuit with no teeth) but instead they used it as a weird donation method.

What was the joke?

2 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

https://youtu.be/zzvx3L3DQb8?si=_w1rvHG8keTNlT31 He critized them for settling that lawsuit from Trump

CBS has no spine. John Oliver CONSTANTLY attacks his parent company and none of them dare to do anything beyond making his show difficult to find. (If you look at HBO Max he is not on the front page and they keep pushing Bill Mahr after you watch him.)

2 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

He should have... it was extortion.

2 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Just so they could get bought by Rain Dance

2 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

IIRC it's Skydance and their owner is a huge MAGAt.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you're right.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well if he has extra time on his hands he should run for president now.

2 months ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't wish that on anyone

With Jon Stewart as VP, & John Oliver as Press Secretary.

2 months ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Make John Oliver the Secretary of the Treasury, just to fuck with Steve Mnuchin.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'd flip that around, myself. Have Jon Stewart as president, Colbert as Veep...

2 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Stewart would make an amazing prez

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I look forward to John Oliver answering questions from Faux News with absolutely no filter and unlimited time to berate them.

2 months ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It would be his literal job to sit there and explain reality on an EILI5 level for them. Danm, that would be peak television on the regular.

You guys remember that movie where robin williams a comedian ran for president and won? I remember. I think i might need to rewatch it.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Man of the Year. Pretty good movie actually. Aside from Robin Williams, it also had Christopher Walken, Laura Linney, and Lewis Black.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Man of the Year (2006 film) in case anyone else is as baffled as I was. Completely passed me by. Will take a look.
