I'd love to see updated numbers for #15, it's been almost a decade since then and I suspect things have gotten worse :(

Oh, don't even get me started on revenue generation by immigrants. Even in the entertainment industry it's over 2 billion last time I checked. Also those who come on STEM Visas (much like when we snatched up Jewish and German scientists after the world wars). They also pay taxes and often are willing to accept lower pay when it comes to manual labor. I can attest to my mother who is a retired hospice worker and still volunteers for hospice care because the company is bad at staffing.

I don’t make minimum wage, but when minimum wage went up, my wage did too. Good foundational pay set a standard by which other pay was judged

#4 is correct….. but you shouldn’t able to kill people at work either…..

Which states aren't "right to work" at this point? I'd imagine there's so few it'd be difficult to account for and normalize for other factors, like proximity to a city/cost of living.

#3 literally the only reason I show up early every time is so I can just chill in my car... for the first time in my life I have a job that's less than 10 minutes away. I show up, smoke a cigarette, and browse imgur for 20 minutes. Which also gives me a buffer to do anything I need to do before work in case I get off after everything else closes. Reminds me, I should put my library book in my backpack cuz that shit be overdue

We will never revolt until we are hungry. As long as they keep us eating like hogs, nothing will ever change.

Right to Work is misleading

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WORKERS SHOULD OWN THEIR LABOR. We had a system of slavery, where owners owned people. This was bad, obviously. But we've traded it in for a system where when we apply for a job, we agree to sign over ownership of our labor for a pittance of a wage just barely adequate enough to cover our expenses. Maybe more depending on the "quality of our labor." If you're generating $10,000 per day through your labor, and you're only getting $15 per hour, for 8 hours, you're getting ripped off. >

After all, it's YOUR hard work that's making the company so successful. You deserve a bigger piece of the pie. Workers should own a controlling share of the company, because they're the ones who make the company. The "owner" of the company is just some guy who decided he had some tasks he wanted done and got other people to do the work for him, and now he's walking away with the proceeds of all that labor he didn't perform? How is that fair?

#12 this is where we use the Montgomerey Method: Quote them 4x the time frame, make it sound impossible to deliver in 1/10th the time, deliver anyway. That way, you're always a miracle worker. (Scotty Montgomery, Star Trek)

Careful delivering too far ahead of time, because manglement will discount your estimates then give you hell when you do need all the time to complete a task.

Fight Club isn't meant as an inspiration.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No I get that. Those guys in the "fight club" are domestic terrorists. However, that scene still resonates with a lot of people; that's why I only chose that clip. I intentionally pick pop culture references to add to my posts because people don't like it when I only have infographs, nonfiction quotes, and facts.

People keep forgetting that. Did no one see the end of the movie? Or read the book?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I chose that Fight club meme as clickbait. some might even call it ragebait.

A depressing tidbit for your collection:

Where is civil forfeiture? Cops steal more than the criminals...

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Steal millions in wages, pay a 100k in fines. Then fucking do it again.

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Yup, when the fines don't equal the ill-gotten gain, it's just the cost of doing "business"

I'm sorry, but how are undocumented immigrants paying tax? Don't you need documents for that?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry I took "undocumented" to mean "illegal" - is that not so? In the UK these would be people earning cash in hand jobs, living off grid and therefore paying no tax. Is there a different meaning state-side?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some undocumented live off the grid and do not pay tax. There are some folks who are also considered undocumented, but they might be trying to get their citizenship, therefore, they pay their taxes even though they do not get any government representation. Their status as undocumented can still last for many years, so they keep paying taxes to help get their application approved and lower the risk of deportation.

#1 Is the reason they divide the labor class with culture wars. If they didn't, we all would have united and dragged the upper class to the gallows about 15 years ago.

There's still time. Not much, but enough.

I have plans for a rotary guillotine that could speed uh, production up at least 8 fold.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

First you have to unify the working class. That includes the religious right and the Trump supporters.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Before anyone starts screeching about how Trump supporters are super evil blah blah blah... remember those Nazis y'all want to pretend you would have fought back in WW2? The folks who actually fought them teamed up with the Soviets. If they could stomach working alongside Joseph Stalin, then you can stomach teaming up with a fellow worker with a different opinion on which career politician is the "lesser evil."
