@OP Thanks for flagging this. We built this with a cap so it doesn't appear more than once every few hours, however, the cap was set to be higher by mistake. I've reduced it only appearing 1x every few hours now

Imgur's engagement has been o a steady decline for years now, and shitty theme days aren't helping matters, so it's up to finding ways to get more push notifications out there to keep people opening the app more often.
I'd be more pissed if I hadn't watched this cycle play out with basically every website or service I've used in my 25+ years on the internet. Once it gets bought by corporate interest, this sort of thing should be outright expected.
