I know the tech is real. The problem is that the white car in the first part rocks too much and too precisely. It's clearly a CGI demo in that segment.
If they can carry that much weight of a car, they can also carry that much weight of high explosives, and if joined together, go over bumps, hills and obstacles. We should worry
Most parking structures i have used have speed bumps. These could be useful within the structure, it seems that it would be easy to design a countermeasures to easily deter the use of these in theft.
A small dip on the exit of the parking garage would stop these, a speed bump by the exit would stop these, the tire shredders that keep people from going the wrong way into the parking lot would stop these. The ground clearance and break over angles are near zero.
I remember being baffled at the tire shredder things the first time i was in CA until i saw the sign warning about damage. They really do not exist in the Northeast, guessing because they could freeze in the up position in winter meaning even a driver following the arrows would have problems.
There are two main types, moving and stationary ones. The stationary ones keep people from entering the exit and bypassing parking, they would be fine in the northeast. The moving ones are generally there to stop people from entering/leaving without paying.
evilspock
I want this to not be sped up. They should actually go that fast. It would be AWESOME.
MyusernameisLostOne
the new gone in 30 seconds movie seems just okay
eastend666
I bet these cost a pretty penny.
skipweasel
Most of the carparks round here are so scabby you'd neeed big fat chunky tyres to stand any chance of this working.
albaboss
Right?? My street has so many potholes on it this would never be feasible

Nice, now we don't need engines anymore

i liked the video of the cops using some of these to move a legally parked car to some place they could ticket it

The car being put into the parking space has weight shift so much that this is obviously CGI.

There's plenty of manufacturers who make self parking cars aleady so I agree.

See, this is the kinda shit AI should be used to improve. Not stealing peoples' art.

Steal cars, not Art.

I see the wrong group of people getting their hands on these :/

If you can get your hands on one of these and the knowledge/tools to command them, you probably have access to a bottle jack and some wheels.
DippinDerps
I think there is a big time difference with these compared to some jack and those wheeled chocks lol

Please do not give the robots any idea.
genericanamoly
I worry way more over a raspberry pi than I ever would these things.
technicalfool
You have more to worry about from drainpipes and propane tanks than these.
BlastyMcBlastblast
the only way to stop thieves using this to steal your car is to park on a gravel surface...
Canigetbannedagain2
A regular pallet jack can lift 6,000 lbs, but a zip tie can stop it. So gravel and zip ties. Maybe a handful of Legos.
gardenias
Well, it's not the only way. I feel like landmines would be a pretty effective deterrent. Not so much if you want to drive yourself, though.
BananaForScaIe
Or badgers. For once, we might need some stinkin' badgers.

Wouldn't even fit in a 1 min gif if it was normal speed. Also most people have an attentionspan that rivals the rumored one of goldfish

The first part makes a good point. Sorry, didn't read the whole thing.

For the karma

because they are superslow in normal speed

Then why does the car wobble in the 180..?

These types of robots do exist though, the OP clip seems to be a 3D artist's interpretation
