TBF, I'd like to have both means. Linking to a specific position in a dump and also linking an image in particular. I can live with the fact that I can shorten the URL to get what I want, but it's not exactly convenient.

I mean, old imgur was never commercially viable. ZIRP era is over, and storage is expensive

That's why I said I can go and open it in the browser to get the link. But it's made it a one step task into an at least three step process.

I find it telling how seldom Imgur links come up on image searches these days. On Google and on DuckDuckGo, you have to specify Imgur as part of the search term, generally.

Yeah, it's now difficult to share just one image -- there are some from albums where I certainly don't want to share the album with the recipient, just a single image. Pretty lame change.

Is this a mobile thing? Because just right clicking and copying the image link works just fine.
