My cat occasionally brought in live mice, which I'd usually release and give a second chance to. One time one went under the fridge, so I went to move the fridge so I could get it out. There was a small crack and well, no more second chances for that one 😳

Leave the fridge door open? Wonder how many fools are going to take that advice...

Mine only eats apples.

Glue traps are fucking barbaric. If you're going to take out your autumn rodent invasion, at least be thoughtful enough to kill them instantly.

"Try to block the area under the fridge with cheese. Cheese is easily moldable and can fit into those cracks and crevices."

Great advice!

Just use a shotgun like a real American

Or if full-blown MAGAT, try an AR-15 with bump-stock.

Leave the door open?

It's easy in this economy, since there's no food inside

Also, glue traps are not so much "non lethal" as "I want to personally kill the mouse" since there is no way to let it go.

Olive oil helps them get unstuck

Socrates would like to have a word.

I hate that there's no way to turn this shit off.

If you have mice, get a cat. A resident predator is the best way to get rid of the pests, He don't get them all but the mice will relocate

Chicken would be far better than some inbred, overfed cat that can't tell its own head from its tail, but most zoning laws forbid keeping them in your home, just as they keep you from gardening in most urban centers.
Yeah, it is perfectly fine that wild pigeons are pooping all over bus stops and sidewalks while ganging up on you for crumbs, but no you may not keep relatively docile avian pets in your yard

I had a cat who would just look at a mouse and roll on her back. That lazy little hairball. Not complaining she was the perfect cat but anything but a mouse catcher

Joining the chorus here, but for the love of whatever you hold dear, DON’T USE GLUE TRAPS. They’re lethal in the cruelest, slowest, most terrifying and horrific way. You cannot ā€œrescue and releaseā€ a mouse caught in a glue trap: I know because I’ve tried (at an old job). Just don’t.

Socrates would disagree.

I’d take death by hemlock over a glue trap any day, and twice on Sundays.

Look up the movie Willard

Glue traps are not only fatal, they hurt, terrify the mice, and take a LONG time to kill. So utterly wrong, and just utterly useless.

Cats.

I remember I was crashing on a friends couch for awhile and he setup some glue traps. I'll never forget when they caught a mouse. The glue is EXTREMELY sticky. You'd more likely rip off their limbs than get the mouse out of the trap. I just couldn't stand the thing screaming anymore and put it out of its misery with a swift stomp. It was horrible all around.

Was the little fella ok?

11 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. He went off the big garbage can in the sky.

And what about the mouse?

Glue traps are NOT humane. They do not allow you to release it. If your choice is a quick death, or days of terror, starvation, and dehydration, then YES, killing instantly is more humane. Not as good as catch and release traps, but your comment is absolutely inane.

11 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes it truly is. Duh. Why are you trying to be smart/sarcastic about this? Humane traps aren't humane. Trap and release a mouse just leaves it lost for a predator to eat them. Quick death or living with a plague of mice. Those are the only options.

it is absolutely better, what the fuck is wrong with you

11 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

In what world is instant death not more humane than slow, painful, terrifying starvation?

11 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Would you rather have your neck snapped or be chained to a radiator until you starved to death? Do you think that people catch mice in glue traps then unglue them and set them free?

11 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

There should be a glue trap that instantly dissolves off when wet. So the people who refuse to stop using them can set them outside and spray with the hose. At least the animal is just wet then. Not so great idea in winter thou. I bought a ā€œhumane mouse trapā€ online and when it arrived in the mail it was barely big enough to catch a palmetto bug let alone a whole mouse :/ someone out there has to make a safe mouse trap capable of catching multiple, I just don’t know where.

11 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

'because you want it' doesn't answer the question or make them any less cruel.

11 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I know it’s cruel, but obviously the government doesn’t give a $hit and people are buying them in droves. So coming up with solutions to help reduce suffering isn’t a bad idea. I personally have never bought or used one, I see them all over the community thou. Often they are even placed outside on porches and In front of garage doors where animals outdoors are exposed. Raccoons and bears get stuck when digging in the trash cans where people disposed of them.

Feels like water soluble glue would create a less efficient trap. Humidity or pee would be working against you, and the mouse definitely wouldn't go quietly. Pretty much the only humane option is the cage traps, but you're never going to find one that catches multiple mice unless you're going to use something big. Quick search got me a mouse trap door bucket

Looks humane but I’m not quite sure how effective it is. What entices the mice to walk up the ramp?
