awesome

useful

During my hostile environment training I learned that its always safest to be on the periphery of a crowd/riot, near the walls.

Thank you!

We were crushed in a rammstein concert and lifted off our feet for twenty minutes. Could barely breathe. Lost a shoe. Ribs black next day.

Thank you OP, favorgotten already. Not that I'd need this in rural Finland but still

Just do your shopping from home problem solved

Here 9 other advices : https://youtu.be/pOEcVIPchYY The guy is a doctor in crowds (just unbelievable but true) all vids are awsome

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

plenty of subjects about crowds : Chinese whispers, toilet paper shortage, fake news, crowd creativity, AI ... you will learn a lot.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone who has been in a mosh pit learned this real quick. Next lesson, “how to practice surviving a fall by crowd surfing”.

I'm so glad school had time to have me jump backwards over a bar instead of ... you know, this stuff or first aid skills /s

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s one way I’m sure I won’t die. I’m crowd phobic. Must have been trampled in my last life.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

You'll live forever!

I've been in a scary crowd crush in school.. An exit was blocked, we were trying to leave as the new classes entered.. Teachers shouting >

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"stop" did absolutely nothing.. I kind of blame the school for installing a sort of "if you're late, you're in trouble" mentality. Rather >

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

late and safe, than end up in hospital, which 2 people did.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

holy shit. where school?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quite a modest state school in the UK. The stupid thing was, there was nothing wrong with the exit door, it's window was smashed. But it >

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

still opened and closed, and the glass had been cleared away.. The care takers didn't do their job, or do a risk analysis.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been in a stampede and it was the scariest experience in my life! I really thought I would die that day

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

These people never been in mosh put before

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

ah, this is all ingrained in me from years of mosh pits

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

So just brace yourself for it. Got it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

dunno where the source video goes, but if you feel the crowd falling over, get your knees to your chest, use arms to protect your head.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As being caught in a crush is one of my fears, this is really good information to know.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That stance will not save you if 450 people are pushing against you. Nothing will.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The arms up, legs staggered is what I do at metal shows when a pit starts by me out of nowhere. Slowly back out or simply brace like that.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In a real crush there’s not a whole room of space around you and it’s not going to fucking matter how you stand - there’s no space.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Some of yall never survived in a massive mosh pit, and it shows

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was in an overcrowded concert (1980s) and it was very strange. The crowd was like a wave and people would just fall over.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Years of mosh pits have taught me that same thing

*How to survive Black Friday

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

How? Stay home. But actually, Black Friday is dead. Not even a busy day in the store these days.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Also if a crowd is starting to surge forward try to move sideways if you can.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You learn this stance in heavy metal crowds. So many years of being on the edge of a mosh pit.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Yeah I lock my arms in front of me, palming my fist. Not the pit so much as the crush, the pit has air

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah most times I'll jump into the pit to relax. Just go with the flow and mosh defensively.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

hell yeah. Or in the middle of a mosh pit. Or at the front. Front is best.

Zombie movie? Apocalypse? People seeking shelter to save their lives? No, just a normal black Friday in the US

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 7

Black Friday is dead. Wallyworld has split it over 3 weeks, they announce the deals well in advance, and it's not even a busy day (1/2)

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

in the store. Everybody just buys online now. (2/2)

This was in Korea - just stop generalizing

It would be "generalizing" if this really were in the US. Besides.. you can't tell me this sort of thing has never happened in the US.

Paige...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You couldn't fucking pay me to stick around for that

2 years ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 0

I did it 3 times for about $8 an hour. One year I was at the pallets and trying to cut away the plastic, but the people just started

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

ripping it away with their fingers. It was like out of a zombie movie, dozens digging into flesh. I backed away into softlines.

But today is not the day the courage of men will fall. For Frodo!

I'm an agoraphobic giant. Bring me to a crowd and I'll happily bulldoze a path through a crowded space. :)

When I was a kid at a Mudvayne concert everyone from the back pushed forward and people all around me started passing out and people 1/-

Cheat code. Shit in your hand and wave it around. Bam, everyone takes three steps back

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do go out just avoid the crowds of people.

This is so horrific. I was nearly crushed to death at a Rush concert in Colorado. Three men were pulling a group of us girls to our feet >

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

and lifting us up against a chain link fence. We had to hold on by our fingers for what seemed like an eternity. Escaped with only a >

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

broken elbow and bloody nose. Terrifying. I still wish I knew who the heroes were that saved us.

2 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

They were true music fans. Rules of the crowd (or especially mosh pits), get everyone up if they go down, if they need out get them out

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Holding on by your fingers with a broken elbow sounds hard.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Where was that recent incident? Korea I believe? Shame that it happened.

2 years ago | Likes 204 Dislikes 1

In a smaller scale that's what happened on the Travis Scott concert too. People got crushed into asphyxiation.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Still pisses me off that PoS isn’t in jail or bankrupt

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, holy shit, seeing the picture of those crowds, you'd have to be practically suicidal to be out in that to begin with.

2 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 5

Seoul, South Korea. It was in an popular nightclub/tourism district called Itaewon.

2 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Seoul crushing

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

Was there a few years back. Really sad

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Sad thing is something similar happened in Hong Kong in '93, but people forgot that packed crowds on steep inclines is a bad combination.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It's arguably worse. Police herded crowd in Itaewon for +5yrs, but someone high up decided to cancel it this year & people immediately died.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I believe the cop committed suicide over that decision as well.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The one who committed suicide was a mid-rank official in chain of command; more of a clerk who filed the order rather than make the order.
