Fair point. I just suffered catastrophic harm over the course of my life because none of my abusers were ever held accountable. At worst they were only given a slap on the wrist, even if what they did was witnessed by tons of people and the evidence against them was irrefutable. The easy way to remember it is this: there's a space between "transgender" and "man" for a reason. Transgender is just an adjective, so it would still be accurate to just say that he is simply a man. No self respecting man would call himself a woman, whether they're trans or cis. So then it's more evident that a trans man's transition is toward a more masculine body

The article someone else shared said his name is Sam and he had traveled to meet his girlfriend. But Sam can be short for Samantha and girls have girlfriends, too, so I’m still wondering.

Even when the economy is up and social issues are well-supported, you will have people who still hate and want to hurt others. It's not OK, it's not to say "Oh well, nothing you can do about it." I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think motive is typically something that is more specific. Not that you ever need to prove motive for a criminal case, it just helps show how likely the accused is to be guilty.

Eh, it depends. "I hate Jews/Blacks/LGBTQ+/etc. people" can be a motive, but usually police will look for another more personal motive first. People have been speculating that Luigi Mangione's motive was anti-CEO/anti-health insurance greed; they don't think he had a specific personal beef with Brian Thompson, but it's still a motive. This could be like that, or it could be different, but if it is hatred and bigotry then that does count as a motive still.
