My #secret_santa gift is stuck in customs hell. Got overseas without a problem, and then I got an email asking to further explain everything that was in the package. My mistake, I told them. Among other things, I sent some store-bought beef jerky. Now they're telling me that it's not cleared and they have to return the shipment. Shit. I'm hoping that they can just take the jerky out and send the rest along.

Vegemite was also banned for a while in the Netherlands, even though their princess was an Aussie.

That's not the way customs works at all, sort of an all or none kinda thing.

According to their site it requires a health certificate to send food to the Netherlands with a few exceptions.

As a Dutch guy; I am sorry. Customs is a bitch in any country.

Also, why would you possibly think sending meat through the mail was a good idea?! lol (jerky or not, MEAT THROUGH THE MAIL.)

I'm not sure you know what beef jerky is... It is not that uncommon a thing to ship. It's not like it's homemade. (1/2)

The stuff lasts for months, if not years. (2/2)

Also, I sent it via FedEx on Monday. It was supposed to be delivered today. Not like I was expecting it to be on a hot truck for weeks.

Even on a hot truck for weeks jerky wouldn’t go bad.
