Apparently the New York DEC has had to temporarily close all its offices in New York because they keep getting bomb threats from people pissed off at them for seizing and killing Peanut.
Wasn't it about them getting complains/reports that the raccon also living with them supposedly had rabbies and then took both to test them (this sadly requires them to be dead)? I thought it was basically swatting with animal control.
Oh yeah, but if the complaints mention rabies, and some actually gets bitten, I can understand why they'd wanna test (which can't be done with the animal surviving, as far as I know). Not to say which ever department handled the situation wasn't incompetent, or jumping the gun.

Don't let the New York police find out about it or they will come in guns blazing.

Are we domesticating squirrels now?

It's how you know you have a genuine redneck instead of one of the cosplayers in the stupid trucks. If it's not a squirrel it's a raccoon or opossum.

It was definitely complaints, but I don't know more than that.
The animals were both killed, because PNut bit one of them during the raid. TBH, I'd have bitten someone if they raided my house like that

Yeah, the rabies test involves a biopsy of brain tissue, and cutting thin slices for examination.
