I've got some really great hard to see fossils here today. I spent the last 15 years trying to figure out what this was! Always knew there were fossils in these rocks. But despite all I could do or say. I was laughed out of one fossil forum after another. Every time I posted these I get pretend paleontologists coming out of the woodwork to call me every kind of stupid because I flat told them they were wrong. These were not just rocks. The fossils are there you just have to look. I've picked up more than 300 rocks with traces of these fossils and over and over again I was told there was no fossils there! Well, thanks to a very lucky find earlier this week I finally IDed these things. And I was right just like I always knew I was..... That's not true... I've doubted my sanity for years! But now I know what these are. I know what they look like... Having seen more than glacier crushed pieces! These are Blastoid fossils! Crushed broken and messed up in every way possible but fossils none the less. When you know in your gut that the whole world is wrong.... You have got to stick with what you know is true. I never gave up looking for answers despite the worst kind of treatment by almost everyone I spoke to about these. My own family wouldn't even agree with me. But in the end I found it and figured it out on my own..... Well my own and a bit of help from Charles Trautwein.....one of the best geologists working! Who, though he couldn't really see them either, never once said I was wrong or that they were not fossils. If you ever have a chance to meet this man just know there is not a better man any where on this earth .... Thank you Charlie!

Don't ever let anyone tell you you are stupid. You may be wrong, you may not have all the facts. You may need to learn more. But when you know something is true don't let any internet bonehead tell you you are stupid for not seeing it their way. No matter what they CLAIM their qualifications are. There is nothing on this planet so ignorant as a man full of book learning a degree. Remember that and persefeckenvere!

One of those times when the red circle would be handy. But seriously, made me look up blastoids and I can see what you mean in some of them.

Thanks I know it's very hard to see. And I just can't get a high resolution in focus closeup with a hand held phone

Honestly it is nearly impossible to make out much in these phots. There is no substitute for having the sample in hand to examine. 1/

Bog part of the oroblem is trying to get people to ID things online, from pictures. That said, a good paleo/geologist would tell you that 2/

Not that there is nothing there (which is very different than I don't see anything). If you really want good answers take them to someone 3/

for a hands on examination. That is my advice as a geologist. I see some patterns in there but certainly nothing 4/

clear enough to make an ID Id be confident with.

That would be and has been the issue. But they do not make a phone camera that will do better. The problem is they are photos and not 3 D

Yes very much. There are also other senses we have that dont work via pictures

What do you mean, are you a rock licker or something?! (Said by someone who has licked way too many rocks in her day)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rock licker, rock smeller, rock caress-across-the-cheeker

Same

Very much so! I've tried and tried and I just can not get pictures that show the details my naked eye is drawn to instantly

I fully understand, why I ofetn avoid, ID this mineral posts haha. There is no substitute for the realnthing and hand lense level zoom

I've tried tracing out the lines on the rock so people can see what I'm pointing to. But then I get made fun of and accused of drawing pictu

If all you need is someone to say you might have found something I'll say that. But based on these photos I see nothing that supports it.

I get that but it makes it no less true regardless of weather or not you have the experience to see it. I've studied these rocks for YEAR

S! I've tried to get hundreds of people to see them and just like you pictures in 2 dimensions just are not as good as swing it up close

If these are that important to you then I suggest you post better pictures. If on the other hand you only want a chance to rant go elsewhere
