Today I learned this is the hand signal to indicate slowing or stopping

Sep 23, 2020 12:53 AM

I have been using this signal for the past year, after I was rear ended and my car was turned into a TripUpStairs sandwich.

I knew about arm signals for left and right turns, but didn’t realize this was a thing, it became instinctual after the accident. Now it is muscle memory when I have to slow unexpectedly, or feel like someone is coming up too fast behind me.

You know they also have this new amazing technology called "turn signals" on cars, also known as blinkers. They work wonders.

When lights fail, it’s good to know the hand signals. I learned these 50 yrs ago in drivers ed, except how can that be?! 50 years. Yikes

Agreed they are good to know. But they aren't the only tool and most people ignore the hands anyway. I'd rely on blinkers first

People don't pay attention to blinkers let alone hand signals. Most people are stupid and believe they are the only car on the road

Exactly. Most people would look at blinker first and then wonder who you are waving at as they smash in to you
