I was lucky enough to witness totality in Maine with an absolutely clear sky for about 1.5 minutes. I only wish images/videos could do it justice. There's so much more to the experience that I can't put into words. Once in a lifetime for me.
It is safe to view the totality directly. You need glasses before and after. Once the photosphere is completely obstructed the corona is 1 million times dimmer than the sun. Source NASA and myself and my whole family safely viewed it yesterday with no issues. Stop jumping on the ignorance bandwagon and spreading this shit. https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/future-eclipses/eclipse-2024/safety/#:~:text=(You'll%20know%20it's%20safe,to%20look%20at%20the%20Sun.
Thank you, I know a lot of folks don't realize that the totality areas are safe, and my comment about getting blasted was more my recording hardware, which I was purposely using a beater for so I could record the truest experience I could. You can tell this was absolutely not my first or second eclipse ;) However, it WAS new for me to have light clouds actually IMPROVE the experience in a way. This is why I love hearing eclipse chasers talk about the difference between elevations too

Yeah we had light clouds in Hamilton and it made for such a cool effect during and right after totality. It was awesome

I always applaud any event that can get a group of people together to enjoy something without harm or hate!

Good to see folks spreading solid information about it.
