Transparent Wankel Rotary Engine

Crazy dude made a clear see-through top end of a model Rotary engine, so the combustion cycle could be observed. I've been fascinated with Wankel Rotary engines, ever since I had my high school hot rod of which I was so proud, and had my ass handed to me by a stock RX-7 on the highway, just walked away from me no sweat.

The three chambers of the cycle are, top-right is combustion, top left is exhaust, and bottom-right is intake. That's way simplified in description but you get the gist of it. He's burning nitrous and acetylene in this demo, but it's running and sounds like a hungry zipper monster.

The chef of the sauce of this is at https://youtu.be/pCteBhr4dGY the sound is wicked cool.

I love odd and unique things. This engine is as odd and unique and an engine can get.

Endless RPMs but no hp and even less torque and they suck down gas and oil like a two stroke boat engine.

They really are fascinating and you can rev the hell out of them. Thing is, when they go, that's about it. She's cooked.

It takes a decent amount of work, but you can modify them to rev around 12k. Which is just insane. They are super easy to rebuild too.

Yep, speaking from experience. The fact that the engines are rare in the States makes it even less economical. But I loved my redhead bitch!
