The searches were for unemployed losers.

just landed a new gig after seven months. recruiter there has a software dev job open and has over 900 applicants to go through. it's insane.

3 months ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

And there's only about 270 companies that need your skills .

3 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You guys are getting views?

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've never gotten a job from there but it serves as a place to keep work contacts from previous jobs. Marginally useful but it's also free.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey hey, I just got LinkedIn premium and... Yeah. It's been a long year

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Premium, unfortunately just isn’t helpful.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

If you are really wanted and needed, you can just write boolshit into the categories and mock the recruiters..

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

As in, the more unserious you take linked in, the better a programmer you must be. Post much on a social network, obviously you are not coding much..

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Thus.. the best coders- are not on that platform..

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

LinkedIn is fucking stupid. At work, you put on a fake persona...
Online, you again put on a fake persona.

So LinkedIn is [bullshit * bullshit = bullshit²]

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

OMFG. THIS!!

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You appeared in searches but you have to pay LinkedIn to see who it was that searched you

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Its useless. Worse than that, its a data-collecting farce. Nuke that shit.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Shouldn't have edited the meme template, leave it as "this is worthless!" for more effect.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're getting noticed~

Fwd: Fwd: Fwd: Re: FWD: "Ha! Get a load of THIS guy's LinkedIn profile [TOO FUNNY]"

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I did the free trial of pro so I can see who are these people looking me up and apparently there is an extra privacy mode where you still can’t see them. So damn redundant.

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

LinkedIn is for background checks, mostly. Headhunters may use it to find potential new employees, but they only go for those with the thickest resume or connection groups and will ignore everyone else.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait. where the hell do you find job listings in software engineering?

I mean, I've been using Seek.co.nz but that's because I *specifically* want to move to New Zealand.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can do location based searches and what field you're in to narrow down the job listings.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The internet has radicalized me, I admit. Nothing has made me a more avowed enemy of capitalism than the contents of my LinkedIn feed.

naturally I can't opt *out* of the xhitter-clone aspects of LinkedIn to just search for jobs and have a resume profile.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Hmm, it's less than useless M'boy!

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After four months I never even got an interview. In the end networking through family got me a job in my field.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 months ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 2

"Prompt engineer"... oh boy, not sure what's worse, this or "AI artists".

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

I would put a considerable amount of effort into applying to this job just to screw them over.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I almost downvoted you out of reflex. But that wouldn't be fair to downvote the messenger

3 months ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

You can downvote me as long as you are willing to not get paid for your work and pay me weekly for the privilege.

3 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

My resume:

3 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I'd say "isn't that illegal" but it doesn't really matter now does it. What you gonna do about it.

3 months ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Probably fire.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please tell me this isn't real

3 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Okay, but I'm not sure if it would be true...

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's likely real. A lot of "internships" are now pay-for-play too. Fuck capitalism.

3 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Fuck those people

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Linked In is not for job searching. It's just for people who do little to nothing to brag to their bosses about how much they do.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I have a LinkedIn account so when I apply for a job I can point to my LinkedIn account and say, "see, I'm professional, give me money"

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

LinkedIn is for CONNECTIONS - professional people you met or know or worked with and can get you that inside track for a new job.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

yeah, every job I've ever held has been through a LinkedIn posting.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I literally lost my job on Tuesday.... I'm thinking I'm going to pursue my CDL. Then I can drive big trucks AND have accounting experience. Cause you know, why not?

3 months ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

Have many skill make ape brain go brrrrrrrr

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I lost my job six months ago. I'm considering starting to draw furry porn.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I lost my job earlier this month. Instead of going into another tech support job, I’m getting my project management certification. Those jobs are everywhere in every industry. Good luck with your CDL!

3 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

What are you going to deliver once nobody exports anything to USA due to these tariffs?

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I'm preparing for the future. One day he will be dead and we will beat fascism. United we stand!

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We know he'll eventually buy the farm, sadly he's broke so not nearly fast enough. Until then, you've got to do what you can to survive bro.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I admire your optimism.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I just found out my last day is June 2nd

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had literally 0 notice. My boss had approximately 12 hours notice, and even then she didn't think it'd be THAT DAY. I'm sure she feels terrible since I was only fired because corporate wanted to demote her so that they could give a nepotism hire a leg up. Corporate in an at will state and all.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what my dad did, although his degree was in electrical engineering.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just be aware that driverless trucks are already on the road in Texas.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bad timing to get into hauling. Stuff's piling up at the docks because nobody's buying our stuff. By the time you get your license, it's gonna be Find Out time.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It should be free though the state since I'm on unemployment. I look real good on paper, 6 years as an accountant. I have to sit around just looking for jobs anyway, may as well learn a skill while I'm at it!

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Become an owner/operator, use your accounting skills to maximize deductions on your 1099s, rule the world!

3 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Exactly. My kids are old enough to take care of themselves too (15 and 21 by June) so I can just take off if need be. It feels like the perfect timing to learn a new skill that can be used with my other skills to gain real independence.

3 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Amazing how this annoying farce of a site has persuaded so many to sign up, and feel good about looking so professional.

3 months ago | Likes 129 Dislikes 2

Its a social media site in disguise

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Disguise?

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a job board with a social media component. I know people who don't use it think it's Facebook for Work, but it's a job board primarily. And a really bad one at that since it ignores all your search terms and filters anyway.

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

So, it's just like every other job board, then?

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It is and always be JUST a Rolodex. A way to see who's working where. Any other use for that site is non-existent.

3 months ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

eh, every job I've held has been through LinkedIn ads though. Also good to keep up with everyone's professional history to know who's where in case I need a connection.

3 months ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

That second part is its primary use case, by far.

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It's just an easy, standardized way to check peoples' listed employment history, maybe get an idea of their personality, and do a bit of job hunting. The people who use it as a social media platform - and the content generally posted as such - are an absolute trip.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For the flaws, it's pretty good as a job hunting tool as well. If you can get over the whole "employers dont actually look at your linkedin application and just ask you to apply on their website anyway" part. The way I see it is I'd be applying on their websites anyway, LinkedIn just shows me positions that are open and in my salary range. Way less frustrating than job hunting without it at all.

3 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Nah my dad found a way to use it to hook up with women on business trips and cheat on my mom of 25 yrs. Other uses exist.

3 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

I've gotten three of four jobs off LinkedIn over the past six-ish years? I've always seen it as apolitical Facebook to celebrate folks' new jobs.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The moment I have a job I set my account to dormant. Recruiters get so pissy when you don't respond to them, even when you check all the options to indicate you aren't interested in looking for jobs and removing yourself from the search pool.

Yeah I'm not interested in a 60k reduction in pay to work on a framework that isn't on my resumè in a language that isn't on it either. Over 13 years experience and I still get entry level shit sometimes.

3 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It's funny when a recruiter contacts me about an "opportunity" (despite my profile settings theoretically preventing that), I tell them I'll hear them out if the job can be done remotely and if they can give me a salary range...then they ghost me.

3 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is it considering who owns it? Just another grifter grifting.

3 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It is actually a great way to connect with others and get a job if you're in the right field. I'm an engineer and my wife is in accounting and we're both getting job offers quite frequently from headhunters. My wife had 3 interviews last year alone to see if they could offer better benefits and salary.

3 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

It's pretty terrible if you are in the biology field, however

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I've gotten a 28% raise and my wife got a 32% raise. All by being headhunted from LinkedIn. I still regularly get job offers.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Corporate "culture" and "professionalism" is LARPing for business majors. Change my mind.

3 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

It sounds like you just haven't tried putting an idea on the backburner and reevaluating the metrics on deliverables so you can circle back when you've got more bandwidth to align with operational expectations and optimize the core competencies that you can bring to the table to leverage in terms of actionables. It's not really in my wheelhouse, but a deep dive into synergy might be a game changer in the pipeline.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

we can pull together a tiger team to identify some low hanging fruit and get on the same page in terms of our shared goals, meeting in the middle during an agile sprint where we iterate through the process until we reach a shared understanding and are speaking the same language, though. Really dig deep, ask the hard questions.

Back when Pluto was a planet, we had a wave of "aspiring rappers". Yes, this was a polite way to say "a kid who wants to be a musician but has no IDEA how much work it is to make a living as an artist". I just figured these were the new kids.

Not nearly enough emoji line breaks. Plus, the body of the post needs to be at least eight or nine lines down so people have to click for "...more".

Strawberry Mango Forklift sounds like a drink that requires you to sign a liability release before the bartender puts on PPE and starts mixing it.
