During my last night throwing at my old axe throwing place, my main axe, Aegir, ended up shattering leaving me a little heart broken. In over 5 years, I've never fully shattered an axe but I decided his work wasn't done.

Now Aegir is the Norse god (or Jotunn depending on the interpretation) associated with brewing ale. The axe earned the name after helping me bottle a homebrew. Now, he can continue his work. Just OPENING bottles instead of closing them!

How well does it stick to the target?

The head was still embedded in the target when it shattered so pretty far. I'll post a video tomorrow of my practice to set a world record but the head can stick anywhere from a fraction of a centimeter to up to 2 inches into the board depending on how hard it's thrown or how beat up the board is

Why do people pay to do this? I can’t understand why, when all you gotta do is build a wooden target out of a pallet and can do the same at home, for next to nothing.

Can wack off at home too but it's much more exotic in public.

Some people live in apartments. Some people live in dense cities where they may have a yard, and doing this in a shared public place is unsafe and not possible.

I have both those things lol

Honestly, there's a few reasons. A pallet would fall apart so quickly and the 2x10s aren't cheap. The other problem is location. I live in Chicago in an apartment. I have a target but I still go to a facility as I lack a yard.

Plus it's a fun place to meet people & go with friends!

I both competed in and ran leagues when I worked there. Lot harder to do that in your backyard

Yep. Worked there for a few years. Left a few back and this was taken the last day they were open

Oh shit, I was there that day too. I hope the community can stay strong. Remember times of Old...

Ironically, I left before the oath changed so when they started talking, I tried to say remember primal Man
