My typing speed

Interesting observation: I type slower when I'm racing against the clock, and my typing speed, both sloppy and relaxed, is faster than the average touch typist.

My child took a similar test yesterday for https://www.typedojo.com/typing-test/, I think it will soon reach your result

I'd like to thank my mom, a programmer, my dad, a computer tech, and my computer science degree for this.

Still not pro *wink*. Also that math doesn't quite check out.

Yeah, I was showing that these screenshots aren't necessarily trustworthy, especially in the hands of a programmer/hacker like you or I.

So...Vim, Emacs, or Ed (or cat >file<<.)?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vim on servers, Notepad++ on Windows, and gedit on linux+gui. I'm trying to get home early, not piss myself over software favoritism.

I just end up using Vim/cat on Linux and GVim/Notepad on Windows. Any tips to make N++ and Gedit more useful?

Honestly the regular expression search and syntax highlighting are just top notch for the languages I use. Makes all the difference.

Ah. Well, vim has syntax highlighting as well. Did you know that it also has RE matching, tabs, split windows, and code folding?

It's been 15 years since I took a typing test but I had 127 wpm with 0 errors.

I'm gonna need some proof. I hover around 105 but my accuracy is awful.

I believe him. My highest recorded speed is 135. My brother is 145.

(raised in a house with a dad who owned a software company)

Dang. Apparently I need to get back into practicing. I think my absolute highest was just a touch over 120. Any input on alt. layouts?

You know what, I forgot to mention that I hunt-n-peck.

Wow, you must be a great hunt-n-pecker

My dad used to run a software company so I grew up around computers. I honestly had no idea my speed was *high* until about 2 yrs ago.

I grew up addicted to computers. I didn't know my speed until a job interview asked me to test. They were impressed with my 127.

I tested for a job and got 99 because I was so nervous (had been unemployed for 2+ yrs) and the boss was BLOWN away. Meanwhile I walked 1/2
