This has bothered me for several months now. The only way to exit the camera in Android is to swipe from the bottom edge but doing so will register button presses all over the camera application.

If you make the soft buttons persistent, then home, back, and list apps are always there.

I actually like the feature. I prefer smaller phones so that extra cm of screen is much appreciated. This one bug drives me NUTS though.
