Boomers' dissonance at them being "good ppl" who in no way are responsible for the current and future hellscapes, so it must* be the avocados. *anything, but themselves
Two words: access and poverty. Sure, there was a lot of people who could have and still could go to therapy, but how many of our grandparents from WW2 or any other wars or similar catastrophes could have had access to therapy? Not that many. Then our parents are the result of that, and now there's our generation living in an era where poverty is on the rise again. Not surprising that plenty don't want kids of their own.
No amount of therapy helps when your demographic is being abused. Like how TF do you therapy your way out of the trauma of Jim Crow or internment? Don't get me wrong, trauma doesn't excuse passing abuse along but other trauma responses aren't so maladaptive if there are actually people trying to round you up or legislate you out of public life.
Reminder that stress actively alters the DNA in sperm cells as well. Famine in previous generations (up to 2 iirc) has been shown to lead to the expression of traits linked to weight gain, and difficulty losing weight as well as type 2 diabetes. If you have a "pouch" you can't just get rid of or tone up, your parents or grandparents hardship may be the cause. Ofc I'm just an autistic nerd with adhd, so you should probably look up and check out the papers for yourselves.
I appreciate you. I also have ADHD, and I’m so very grateful that my parents are highly educated and recognized my symptoms early and got me diagnosed at age 4. Like, if only everyone was born to educated adult parents who made sure they were educated and have a “village,” so to speak, to help in raising their kids, like my parents did.
While I agree with you, weight management is a simple exercise in calorie counting. You can’t store fat if you burn more calories than you consume. The altered dna would most likely lead to stress eating which would cause the weight gain. Fat can’t come from nowhere. Just like you I’m no expert just another autistic nerd with adhd
Multiple papers have been published on both. Your bot wrong either btw, it just affects locations, and rates of fat deposition, metabolism and BMR, and other metabolic minutia. For example your body might break down muscle sooner than others should you stop regular exercise in order to reduce your bmr. Thyroid and metabolic issues are also a but more common in such individuals to iirc.
When it's excessively large yes, but I'm talking about that last pocket of "adipose" tissue that can be impossible to shed by conventional means for some. 100+ situps at 50+lbs for months, no abs, or reduction in size. 30+ miles a week in runs at 600kcal for 2-3 months, no reduction in size. It's mostly organs and the fatty deposits around them for protection. Your body will consume your muscle before that fat. But people with body image disorders will often harm themselves trying to burn it.
Paunch is when it's large. It's an abdominal pouch when you basically plateau when trying to get rid of belly fat. Some people just can't lose that last pocket of fat, or tone their muscles to hide it. A bit more common in women due to protective fat deposition around reproductive organs iirc. It's mostly just your organs and such, but it causes issues with body image and can lead to people harming themselves to try to get rid of it, which for some is impossible. I was 140lbs and doing 1/2
Weighted sit-ups. Think I got to doing over a hundred at day at 50+ lbs for months. Then I tried running 30+ miles a week on a 600kcal crash diet for 2-3 months. It doesn't budge, your body will eat everything else first, and you cant get proper abs over it, even with intentionally dehydrating yourself. Shit can haunt those with major eating disorders or body image issues. 2/2
I also advocate for checking facts & sources for oneself, however generally speaking the infodumping of a neurodivergent person about their interests can be considered gospel. (Same for my AuDHD ass, and while epigenetic trait heredity & expression in subsequent generations is not among my particular topics of expertise, I do know enough to support the veracity of your statement)
The major problem is that the adhd turns my brain into a moldy sponge. Sure I'll remember the key points, but the mechanisms and methodology go out the window because my think meat assumes I can just find it again if needed. Additionally my sense of time is ephemeral at best and I occasionally flip the order of things and may cite one thing disproving another when the inverse is true instead. Started making bookmark/saved folders but never the ones I use. I should just write more essays maybe.
I have autism sans the adhd. I literally can't explain some things. But my boss and co workers have started treating it like some sort of prophetic statements. Which seems unfair, given the lack of psychoactive vapours I get to in hale.
The difference between our brains and a neurotypical’s is that ours never “pruned” away all of the connections between seemingly disconnected neurons—that’s why we’re so good at recognizing patterns, even if we can’t fully explain our logic. And also why we’re cursed with random sensory issues, because inevitably one sensory input channel or another is still crossed with the pain receptors. So lack of obvious vapors aside, trust your gut mate.
Learning how to "trouble shoot" is one of the best tools you can have as an autist imho. You can apply the same process of finding the in/out, start/end, and other important "nodes" along virtually any process, including your own thought process and at least narrow done the concept/idea/ gut feeling into something more definite that you can better work with and communicate to others. I kinda do a mental "merge sort", except the goal is to find specific info, and clarify thoughts.
I would not trust my digestive tract much further than a nice madras. Its not a trust issue. I have no issues telling anyone when I have no fucking clue what the issue is, but the "I reckon it's X" statement is invariably correct ab even i don't know why. Im pretty sure that if a human brain is the equivalent if a computer the bit in think of as "me" is the equivalent of clippy
Ha! That’s an amusing thought. Apologies, I misread your previous comment as you were uncomfortable with your intuition and reluctant to share it, rather than just a comment on the reality. Here’s something for you to use then when you are correct but someone else (other than your coworkers who have grown accustomed to your clairvoyance) fails to heed your warnings. Cheers mate
