Water heater mixing valve Shark bite install

Jul 30, 2025 2:28 PM

New bylaws required a mixing valve to be installed to pass inspection on basement renovation.

Did all copper connections rather than PEX for a few reasons (gas appliance, preexisting ground in pipe, heat, etc.)

All installed and functional and I didn't have to call/pay a Plumber!

Municipal supply

Wow, seems like the municipality should be doing something on their end to ensure water quality. Sucks they are doing that to you.

I mean, I get the extra layer of protection, but what bugged me was the hot water tank was preexisting and not being changed/altered at all for the work to which the permit pertained, but I still had to install this to pass inspection and close the permit. Oh well, at least it was only $380 to do it myself.
