So, a reminder that those people being sent to your door aren't trying to convince you of anything, they are being punished, they are being acclimated into the cult... the goal is for them to be rejected, over and over and over again... and have them keep going back out so they the only place of comfort and happiness is back, with with the cult.

There's an isolation and sunk cost portion, too. I was talking to a couple of lds missionaries, and they were explaining that what they can listen to, watch, etc, are all controlled as is who they can spend time around outside of the church. On top of that, they spend around 10k over the course of the mission.
