What am I doing wrong?

This was the design I threw together.

This was the conversion into cricut "draw" setting with .4 black. The outlines are all messed up. My guess is my initial svg design was too complicated. It only gets worse when printed given the line size of the pen.

Markedly worse than my original design. If I had to guess I'd say I needed to do the og design in a different way but I don't know how to account for the size of the final design while also accounting for the final pen stroke weight. Any help would be appreciated!
