What are some last minute things to pack for a Convention?

Jun 30, 2024 2:50 PM

I've been out of the game for a few years, and will be going to CONvergence the 4th of July weekend. I'm mostly packed so far, but my brain is going wild trying to think of everything I will possibly need to have in my room/on the floor with me.

What is something you bring that most con-goers don't think to pack?

Some ideas I found from a Google search:
- Notebook for writing down contact info and booth numbers for returning to purchase stuff later
- Collapsible/compact bag for purchases
- Gum
- Melatonin to help you sleep at the hotel (I usually bring a fan, but melatonin takes less space)
- Condoms ($20 says these go unused, but hey, better to have them and not need them than need 'em and not have 'em, right? I'll happily lose that $20 bet.)

Photo is unrelated, just a quick Google pull to fit the question.

Expect the high probability that you'll probably be out sick sometime after the event. So take that into consideration if you work or have important stuff that you need to attend the week after.

I'm not sure I need to pack those, they'll already be there.

* Personal hygiene products
* If you are bringing props, have a way to be hands free without putting them down (neck straps, whatever)
* Portable battery

Ooh, that's a good idea! I'm bringing a Horny Bat, but can't be holding it all the time.

Deodorant, shampoo/soap, water bottle, and Ear plugs. You could pack this stuff but unless I am driving to a convention what I do is find out where the nearest supermarket or pharmacy is and just buy it there as well as snacks and drinks to keep in the room because the hotels always charge way too much for a bottle of water. Even if I abandon the stuff I spend less than if I had bought a couple of sodas.

Luckily there's a Target store nearby in the skyway, so last last minute things should be easy to pick up. :)

Earplugs for the hotel room when there's inevitable watch parties until 4am

OH! if you take a lot of pictures and want to share them, print out little qr codes/stickers to give to people to find pictures of their cosplay later
