Borax will kill them without the toxicity. Since they are in the stump minding their own and not your house, why not just leave them alone? They only like wet wood, and would only attack your house if you have a leak in your roof.
These are termites. Not ants. Ant wing pairs are different lengths. Either read up seriously or call a pro. At this stage, I personally recommend calling a professional.
oh, we had a swarm of ants just show up on the garage doorway once, they fucked off a couple of hours later before we could decide on a company to call to check it out. sometimes swarms just gonna swarm, I guess.
