Oh wow.

It was such a gentle roll. Like the car just decided it needed a little nap.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

It is the slepy time, it is the time for slep.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What a horrible combination of random circumstances.

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

why my father taught me he did it with one hand resting on the handbrake, just for situations such as this.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just got a permit to teach my son to drive. Thank god in my country it's mandatory to install a brake pedal for the teacher.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That takes all the adventure out of it!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That'll buff right out, I'm sure

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much time did they clock in an empty parking lot before getting to this point?

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

not enough apparently.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Oh shit. Starting to teach 15 yo to drive. I’m scared. We’re studying book now,. She will not ask questions when I drive!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't remind me. My daughter is starting driving lessons.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A friend of mine the month after getting the car license did this three times: closing too much the curve, hitting the wall (no rollover)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You start in an empty parking lot.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So did he just panic after hitting the wahole, or did it actually screw up the driving mechanisms?

3 years ago | Likes 127 Dislikes 2

Maybe the pothole bounced his feet off the pedals and he just couldn't find the brake in time.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hit the hole, caused him to veer right and climb the wall, rolled the car.

3 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 6

No instinct to immediately steer back down the road is what did it. Emergency situation with a lack of experience.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

My guess is the light caused him not be able to see the wall in the shadow till the lighting changed

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Maybe both?

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

If that could disable both steering and brakes, as well as cause the accelerator to stick, that model shouldn't have left the drawing board.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Maybe it's a FCA product.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey man, that's completely out of line. They're called Stellantis now.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Looks like sn over corrected after punching that pothole. Wheel probably also jerked. Something that would be new to the driver.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Little bit of a panic from the looks of it leading to a loss of control of the vehicle combined with a well placed wall and wheel.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

My assumption is he overcorrected to avoid the pothole (tried not to go into the oncoming lane) assume he had shoulder room and noticed late

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think the son was focused on the hole and the road ahead. The eye also tends to draw towards light sources, such as the one ahead.

3 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 0

Maybe overcorrected and was distracted by not having the experience to filter what to notice when driving.

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

I think so as well. Too focused on the hole and trying to avoid it, noticed the wall too late.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Holes. Holes are always the problem.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Shit, my car would have gotten stuck just from the pothole. That thing is huge.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In Australia the reaction woulda been "Oh for fucks sake cunt!... are you okay mate?"

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Dad handled that really well.

3 years ago | Likes 91 Dislikes 2

Mine would have verbally abused me for about 2/3 weeks, he once chased me around a field trying to hit me but was too slow, he then..

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

.. complimented me on how fast I ran and suggested I use that technique when playing sports. Thanks paps!

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My dad would have been choking me like Homer Simpson does to Bart. ?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

In all defense, it’s hard to turn while holding a beer between your legs and rolling a joint at the same time-for beginners. Takes practice

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My first time I jumped the clutch ran over a utility box swiped the garage and was stopped by the front porch

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really good dad-ing going on there. Stayed calm & asked about the kid rather than react to the smashed up car. +1 for dad.

3 years ago | Likes 624 Dislikes 1

They see him rolin', they didn't hatin'

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

"So.... what did you learn?" -dad.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Maybe better to start the kids off driving in a big empty parking so they can get the hang of the controls.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

When I’m Dadding I let my reaction be genuine, swear a bit in a roll-over you know? Then quickly move to controlled and rational handling.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This is a core memory moment and his dad knows it.

You alright, son? K let’s head on home then

3 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 1

Lmao. Wrecked.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

You. Me. Jumper cables. Now.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Yup, that was a good one. Ope."

3 years ago | Likes 314 Dislikes 0

Ohio?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sue the city for the damage due to pothole avoidance.

3 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Convinced this happened in the upper Midwest

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Don't think Michigan as he pronounced all the letters in "Fucking" well, my moneys on Minnesota.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

He mentioned going behind a Kroger though, and those aren't in Minnesota. I'm guessing Illinois or Indiana

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My brother in law worked for Kroger in MN. They’ve been there for years.

My brother in law worked for Kroger in MN. They’ve been there for years.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well, the only place I can find in state called Kroger is an insurance company. And a place called Central Market.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why didn't dad press his brake pedal?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That kid should never drive again.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Classic Sammy.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Distracted the kid by pointing out the hole once the turn was already started

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dad taught me how to drive in a graveyard.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

... Was he proactive so in case something happened, neither of you had far to fly/slide?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I learned on trips to the dump when my parents were renovating their house. 5yo+ sitting on dad's lap and steering.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When we go to National parks/monuments on dirt roads that are super far away from everyone else, I'll let my kids sit on my lap on "drive."

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same! I turned too sharply and ended on top of a tombstone.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My school driver-ed: 10 classes lecture-book-films & 5 on simulator & 5 on road with instructor controls. Showed films of horrific carnage.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I drove around a trailer park.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why would anyone need a skill to drive in a graveyard?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've never seen a graveyard cars were allowed in.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most of the cemeteries around me are at least 20 acres, plenty of nice quiet roads to learn on

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How do you get to the grave? In Seattle there are some pretty big ones.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was it a graveyard before you started?

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Very nice. +1

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

This is why you start in the middle of a huge empty parking lot or a field.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best not to teach your kids to drive, ski, scuba dive, etc. You tend to react emotionally, which doesn't help.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Also takes more training and practice than you might think. Pro ski and scuba instructors have to go through long training and testing.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My friend was a scuba instructor in 2005, for him it was only based on hours and type of dive, then just apply for it like a boaters license

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most people are emotional when the vehicle they are in is flipping over.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I get what you’re saying but my son needs 50 hours behind the wheel in addition to the 6 hrs w/ pro driving co.
