In the show Coven glyphs are used to show what "Coven" you're in and to limit your magic to that Coven's chosen type of magic. Gus specializes in illusions but in this comic he's been branded with the glyph for the Abomination Coven, preventing him from using any illusion magic.
Something interesting I noticed on this one, Hunter's bedding isn't on the floor here, Amity's just sitting with Gus where that would be. And in this timeline, Hunter would have been taken by Kikimora, not Luz...
There's an episode of the AU where Gus tells off the master of the Illusion coven, so he threatenes to brand Gus with an Abomination sigil and take Illusions away from him forever.
The sigils limited a witch's magic. I guess in this au he got marked the the abomination coven. Only the emperor's coven and those evil wild witches could do whatever magic they wanted.
Only so much that can be done with the whole new generation plotline without escaping the scope of what the fan comics were in the first place.
Not everybody cares about the next generation, some just want to see more shenanigans with the main cast, hence AU's and what ifs. It's not a perfect scenario, but its better than going overboard with one particular plotline and never being able to see the plot you want to see.

Amity, your Katara is showing

OH so this is if they really did mark him with an Abomination sigil.

I think I'm missing some deeper context here, but it's heartwarming all the same.

Assuming you know the show, this is from an AU where everything is sort of reversed.
