He shoud've armed himself with a bow and arrow. That would've been wiser.

Usually I'm not a fan of a composer re-using their work, or "tweaking it" so it sounds just different enough to use in a different film (see Jerry Goldsmith's work in Air Force One vs. Star Trek: First Contact), but for Kingdom of Heaven, Jerry went back to his score for The 13th Warrior and was like "nah, Valhalla is perfect for this, keep it as is" and now more people know Valhalla from KoH than from the source 13th Warrior.

If you're going to watch Kingdom of Heaven, make sure it's the director's cut
FrancsTireur
Curious thing about that movie is that it comes across as less historically accurate than other similar period titles like Braveheart or Troy or Joan Of Arc but it's actually more accurate than all of them.
Essentially the only things that are flat out wrong are the love affair and the fact that Balian of Ibelin was already in the holy land, already a famed crusader and did actually ride with the army to Hattin but due to a rivalry with Guy de Luzon was near the rear of the army as it 1/
FrancsTireur
Reached the horns of Hattin. He was able to escape with most of his knights and a few hundred others and beat Salah ad-Din back to Jerusalem. It's likely the defence was organised by council, as that's how the crusaders did things, but as the most experienced surviving leader the actual command fell to him. 2

It completely changes the tone of the entire movie. Specially around Balion killing his brother.

I love the movie and rewatch it probably once a year. I'd only ever seen the DC and didn't understand why so many people didn't care for it. I finally saw the theatrical release and was horrified how much worse it was. The DC adds almost 40 more minutes and includes entire plot lines that are either omitted or begun and then left adrift in the original.
Silverbananahorse
Interesting, I was looking forward to the movie and was pretty disappointed. I'll look for the DC

I’ve yet to watch the Directors Cut, and have only watched the theatrical version. I really should do so one of these days.
EatinButtsAndBustinNuts
I've only ever seen the theatrical release and still liked it but felt it was disjointed. I only found out about the directors cut like a couple years ago. The fact that it was chopped up so bad is horseshit.
