Use a horse tank for durability

OP underestimates how often you need to dump out the dirt and water.

A fire pit THAT big, THAT close to the house!?!?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A firepit near wood, vinyl, or other similarly heat-unfriendly sidings is probably 'not a great idea'.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

House gonna start lookin like a Salvador Dali painting.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Way too close to the house and it's more of a hazard in the ground like that.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Then one fateful year, they change the standard size of kiddie pools to save on materials...

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Note to self, purchase multiple pools and store them on case this happens

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ok... but that's just a bon fire pit within 3 feet of the house.

3 years ago | Likes 208 Dislikes 3

That’s when is becomes a mal fire pit

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My only concern is that these breed mosquitoes like crazy, so you need to be able to empty them. If it’s sunk in the ground and full of /1

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

water, it would be a HUGE pain in the ass to empty it out. I’d just as soon keep one above ground as deal with that. 2/2

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

In theory, but they get dirty so fast, you have to empty them often & then when you mow the lawn? Also a collector for wind blown debris

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Woah.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I just saw a woman destroying hubcaps, I am not prepared for more disasters.

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

A mosquito incubator and house fire starter...all in one. At last! My desires for pestilence and destruction at a 2 for 1 price.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The colder months are when I won't sit around a fire pit either though

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Depends on climate yeah

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pools are required to have a fence for a reason. Some poor toddler drowns in that and the poster will be sued into oblivion...

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

they have a yard, with dogs, they have a fence

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Random toddler will ghost their parents, gorilla tunnel under the fence, climb the dog, ride it to the pools edge...then fall in and drown.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Woah.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Woah.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

As if the main usage for our firepit wasn't during the summer...

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I do not recommend having an open fire pit that close to your house.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Kiddy pool is going to be a bitch to empty in that pit.

3 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Eh, our yard flooded last Dec, so we have a sump pump now. However, fire season is year round, so can't have a fire pit.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sump pump, too easy. Lift empty shell out and scrub.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I'm old school. You empty the kiddy pool by stepping on the edge. Actually owning a working pump? Not where I live (no basements).

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Get a boat bilge for like 40 bucks.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep, many cheap options like this.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stepping on the edge? It’s below the ground level nestled in. Basements? I don’t live near no basements, ask a boat or hardware shop. Cheap.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's called a bucket and they're like, four dollars

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It’s below ground, and it’s a lot of water to redirect elsewhere. Good luck with your back if you want a workout. Pumps can be pretty cheap.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This would need to be done regularly to clean out lol not just at the end of the season.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've done it by getting some water trapped in the hose. Get it flowing down then put my hand over one end and stick it in the pool.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Works if the output is lower than the input - but this pool is in a pit!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As long as the hose is running at a downward angle it will keep suction at the input. Even a slight downward angle

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Huh? This is below ground. How will gravity work unless the pond is at the top of a hill?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The thing I emptied was a tiny pit in the ground for a water feature. It wasn't on a hill. As long as the hose is running slightly downward

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Saying "woah" to your own statement is powerfully stupid.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Until your doggo forgets about the change of seasons and runs from the house, leaping into the flames...

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

That's how hot dogs are made

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Doggo be like

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Craig!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't forget to call Digrite or your local equivalent.

3 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 2

These pools are like a foot deep. My dog digs deeper holes than that in the yard.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Places fire pit 1 inch above gas line....

3 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 0

Yyyyaaaassss, I love you guys :) I used to work for 811

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

811 will notify utilities to have them mark out where their lines and such are. https://call811.com/

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

Not for me apparently, the last time I called they never showed up at all, the time before that they came 3 days late…

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

But you still have the record of calling them, so they're liable if you hit anything.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

…and only marked half of my fiber, since they stopped at the hole where it had been cut digging foundations for a deck

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

(They also don’t mark city water and sewer here…but it seems if you hit those the call is still CYA?)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We needed markings on the grass out past the sidewalk. The came and left doing nothing because the house gate was locked…unrelated to area.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh, would you look at Mr. Moneybags over here, just able to have a kiddie pool and a fire pit and a yard...

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

NO! That is clearly a doggie, not a kiddie pool

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Stay classy

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'll catch me on a cold day in hell before I dig a hole that big. Granite State isn't a misnomer. 3'' before shovel hits another rock.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How do you drain it? Those kiddy pools are hard to lift when they are on flat ground.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't put a fire pit that large that close to your house!

3 years ago | Likes 519 Dislikes 6

Also you know at least 1 person will end up needing stitches

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh if you get behind on the payments on the house. Accidents happen

3 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Pshhht. He's prolly got a stove IN the house, so what could it hurt?

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

You want that little bit of shade though.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or use the pavers as seating, under the pool is non flammable gravel. In the center have an enclosed fire bowl, swap them out in the summer.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the actual fire part is probably a small contained vessel in the center that replaces the pool, not the whole thing.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shushushushushushaaaa

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also not a cheap plastic kiddie pool. Entire premise doesnt match the pic.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah it is, one of those blue plastic molded ones, you can get them at Walmart or dollar store for 10-20 bucks depending on the size.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is the neighbours house

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Multiply the size of your fire pit with this one easy trick!\

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fire doesn't HAVE to fill the pit. Just sayin'.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

Yes, it does. ;)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, just because we can doesn’t mean we should.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I would build a small fire in the center and use the rim of the pool as a bench

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Wind blows flames, smoke, and sparks. Carbon monoxide can get sucked into the house. It's just a bad idea overall.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

what kind of millionaire yard owner do you take me for?

3 years ago | Likes 834 Dislikes 4

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yall got yards?!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea I dont think that would fit on the parkway in front of my building

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Not with that attitude.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

All you'd really need is a medium sized back yard I'd think. A project like this is more labor intensive than costly.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I believe the point is for younger generations the dream of having any yard of your own is financially out of reach. Insert cry-laughing gif

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, I sort of blocked that reality out for the sake of my own mental wellbeing

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

*Hugs* that's totally fair. You do you boo

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a front, middle, and back. So 3 millions.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn’t look like a typical plastic kiddie pool either. Looks like a stock tank, which is indeed a bit pricier and fancier.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

They said put it in the ground. They didn't say it had to be your ground.

3 years ago | Likes 152 Dislikes 0

dig a hole. claim it's your yard. it is now your yard. Worked for my great-great-grandfather

3 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

Was his name comacomacomacomaCornell Walace per chance?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

See this is why y'all get caught don't even have a flag, or a gun to back it up. Fucking amateurs!!

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Depends heavily on your sitch. Im a low income renter with a yard in the burbs and I reckon I could scrounge materials, my kids’d love it

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

ell landlord I’d fill it in when leave or else hide it cleverly when inspect

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

maybe a little farther away from the house yeah?

3 years ago | Likes 1666 Dislikes 4

Also check for gas/power/water lines before you dig that close to a structure

3 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

“Fire up the barbecue, uhhh the whole house I guess!”

3 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

Super warm!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Don't want all that 'Dog Water' splashing on the siding...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 13

Nah, this way it gets some shade.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh, you meant for the fire pit... Yeah, farther from the house please.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Backstroke then backdraft

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Life hack. Except no-life only hack

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ehh the siding night just hey a little discolored

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Are you having a stronk?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Woah

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

maybe dont tell me what to do yeah? this is a free country yeah?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 11

it's so you can jump from the roof!

3 years ago | Likes 242 Dislikes 0

Cannonball!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like your style

Into the fire pit

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

...into the FIRE PIT?

3 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 0

Yeah gotta go out in a blaze of glory my dude.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know how far YOU can push a virgin off a roof and into the pit, but some of us have back issues so its gotta be close

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

30ft deep. That way, adding logs to the fire has the same satisfaction as pushing big rocks off a high bridge.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

And it can double as a holding cell if you want someone's skin!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No backsies

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How else can one ensure an abundant harvest, duh?

Kinda thought the ritual sacrifice was a given.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

If that siding is vinyl. It's gonna warp from the heat if the fire pit

You put a metal fire pit in the middle and sit on the outter edge around the fire. Not fill the whole thing with wood lol.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Wind.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Yes embers can travel far, like through the kitchen window or up onto the roof. Use a metal cage for fire pits and keep far from buildings.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Still way too close
