So then I'm NOT as weird as I thought?

Or at least there are a handful of other crazies throughout history and that makes me feel good enough to go on!!

I hope you smile or crack a mental smirk at some point today - even if only a brief moment.

How do people only have one app running?

I just had them piled up around me when writing papers. Sitting in a chair that spun, grabbing books off the floor. Good times.

It's hard. But good if for no other reason than to figure out you can do it. Cheers (◔‿◔)

Please explain

As a professional researcher, i once had an NVivo project with like 450 documents. Good times. Nodes for miles.

3 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

About a dozen of those would have come in handy when I was writing my Thesis.

4 days ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

because you had 84 books open at once? xD

4 days ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not all books. Also a lot of printouts of newspapers, journal entries, letters, etc.

yes, organizing data can be a beast. personally find digital imaging & storage handy as heck. 'tho notebooks great for recording where the recorded data is [usb drives neat but a bane]. ala 2 steps forward; 1 back :)

I also have multiple research materials open at once.

Was that before the invention of big tables?

2 days ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Let's put aside you might be attempting humor. (Some ppl claim "it was a joke" even if it wasn't)

The problem is a (very) nimble mind handling a complex concept might need facts, calculations or other references when trying to attempt creative leaps. Getting to references quickly ENOUGH to keep connections "alive" then, iis a matter of degree -- not just "brute force" (e.g. reach across a big table).

So a rotating table, multiple PC monitors, or whatever can be better for intersectionality.

It was definitely meant to be funny yes. Good catch. But let's put that aside for now.

I don't quite grasp why having books on a rotating table would be better than laying them on a table to quickly access information. What if the very nimble mind wants to cross reference books on opposite sides on the wheel? How do they swap book? The wheel locks? It takes more force to turn it than the weight of books? It's balanced thus only works with similar books and it's a nightmare to load?

"So a rotating table, multiple PC monitors, or whatever can be better for intersectionality."

The pivotal word here is CAN.

Often when discussing options, there are other variables which mean the best solution might not be in either/or thinking. Binary thinking is not the best thing human beings do. Answers could be good/better/best. Or neither. Or "I don't know". Or .. some people hate this one .. no answer at all.

I'm not arguing. I'm exploring. Good luck!! Cheers (◔‿◔)

I think it's fair to point out that I initially just made a one liner joke about an over-engineered table, to which you replied I was "attempting humor" before explaining why the table does make sense. With that in mind, your last reply is... weird.

Well of COURSE you think that's fair. It is.

The ones I've seen were all used to display regional Newspapers. I guess you could put different weight books on it if there was some kind of brake...

I currently have ten windows open right now and I'm also alt-tabbed out of a steam game while juggling two different Discord convos. Embrace madness.

Need one that goes 30 feet back like a giant motorized tie rack turned on its side.

Why do I have this odd feeling that if I say "I don't wanna know" you might tell me anyway?

Reverse psychology -- I wanna know!!

I don't even know if I wanna know. And yet somehow both disappointment and satisfaction (because I simultaneously don't care) are active.

Welcome to just how insane I am.

Luckily I added text to a gif a long time ago for just this occasion!!
