When imgur does fun things like this, everyone floods to use the site all at once. Normally you have the daily casual users who don't spend that much time here. When you do a holiday thing like this, it makes more people show up. The poor hamsters running the imgur servers can't keep up. I keep telling them to upgrade to ferrets but they don't want to get bigger wheels for them to run on.
