When it comes to pregnancy weeks is the measurement because things happen so quickly. The beginning of month 8 is not the same as the end of month 8.

40 is the standard gestation time. Remember that you start counting from the first day of the last menstrual period. Conception happens usually 2 weeks after that and the nidation of the embryo happens about 5 days later. Which is when your body starts to unleash tons of hormones. The first 14 weeks are intense because your body is changing to prepare for the baby growing and for what comes after. You guys need sex Ed.

37-42 weeks for human pregnancy. i'm guessing you took 9 (months) x 4 to get the week count and got 36 but months have more than 4 weeks
