If you had a wifi adapter issue, uninstall all vpn clients you have. Reinstall wifi driver, then reinstall vpn client. 2/2 for updates

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had zero issues.

Ditto

This last update caused the recovery drive to show low disk space warnings all the time... Made work dumb for awhile... Thanks Microsoft!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mine did that, the sound settings all went haywire as well. Spent hours fixing it all

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hah! Joke's on them, their updates haven't gone through on my computer in 7 months! ... I really need to fix that.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My compy could fry eggs after that damned update

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am sooooo glad i stuck with 7.

Panda. Made in a Hasj Lab.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah it kept making my laptop shut off every time I opened chrome. Now, miraculously, it's fine Fter doing fuck all

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still on win7 everything works

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have Windows XP systems still. They all work. Doesn't mean its a good idea to have them.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Mine needs to reset networking drivers every time. It says "will reset in 5 minutes and reboot" but it is doing nahthing else.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Your perfectly working PC, now we're going to update it.. hush hush hush.. Aaaand, it's gone.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

a couple times a week a customer’s PC gets caught in a boot loop because of these updates. i’m really tired of MS’s BS.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

i broke my windows update... wheres your god now

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How? I tried to do that so the last big update would get blocked, it just fixed itself every time

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

taking ownership of some system files and forcing windows to delete it... i'm surprised i haven't broke my entire system

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So happy I finally found a way to make windows unable to update anything. No more of this crap.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Once an update caused my computer to go into an infinite loop of trying to restore the previous version and restarting the install.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My notebook got bricked by an update recently

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My Laptop never has an issue after updates.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I am always very lucky. I never have any issues with updates

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fuck windows. Planned obsolescence. A windows operating system from fucking early 2000's is still miles better and more stable than win10

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It takes a lot of learning and experimenting, but I've switched to Linux for my daily driver type stuff. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Sure, it'll be a huge pain in the ass for some people, but it's actually really fun and you can customize it how you want.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I'm amazed their updates can manage to fuck up Photos so much. It's like the most basic program there is.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

That's why I always disable automatic updates

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Good luck with windows 10.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

You just have to disable the service in the administrator tools.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Doesn't work, it reactivates it, I had disabled the service, worked fine for 2 years, the last major update reactivated the service

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You CAN do it, they just made it vastly more annoying.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Make a batch file that stops and disables the Windows Update service, make a shortcut out of that, add it to the startup menu.

Mac fanboys in 3, 2, 1...

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Here I am! Oh wait, wrong kind of Mac...

Every major update changes all my default apps back to Microsoft and break my Bluetooth pairings.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

*laughs in windows 7*

*laughs in linux*

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Then there's gentoo updates.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ive had windows 10 updates break sooooo many computers and in the end had to completely reinstall.

7 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 3

Your first error was allowing windows to update. We've known this is a bad idea for over 20 years.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

Happened to me a couple years ago, for some reason after the update no application would run at all, had to reinstall the OS

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think need to reinstall my OS and can't find my product key... am I RIP?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have W10P just so I can control updates...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can always go back to previous version

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 5

I am using 7 on non gaming PCs. But latest directx only runs on 10 :/. Plus I’m speaking mainly for customers I’ve had to fix

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I normally look after SME client's for a fixed price per month. I'm dreading when they migrate to 10.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One unapproved update and my computer stopped recognizing keyboard or mouse, USB or ps/2. Effectively bricked it

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah, except when it fails

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

No, especially when it fails.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not when it doesn't boot in to the OS.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It’s IT guys like you that give the industry a bad name. You can always roll back even if it’s in a boot loop.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Fuck off guy I tried that first. 3 separate times I even had Microsoft look at it. After rollback it wouldn’t install updates properly

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On another occasion the update wouldn’t actually install but broke everything. Would take 4 hours to get to 100% and then revert. A repair

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

/2 Install wouldn’t even fix it. And I did EVERYTHING. Not my fault Microsoft can’t get updates correctly.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My PC was fine after

I think if the person was banging their head with the coke bottle it would be more fitting depiction of how much of it is on user's end.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I don't think that is fair, windows 10 was more or less forced on a ton of pcs simply not designed to run it well.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have multiple systems (all self built) with practically zero issues.

My god, my childhood show as a gif on imgur? It is so beautiful.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every major update changes all my default apps back to Microsoft and break my Bluetooth pairings.

7 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 6

It froze my computer half way thru. So the upgrade didn't take and win8 was gone.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

mine don't.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 6

My vbox docker crashed....

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mine's actually better now. When I was playing a video through my speakers, the audio was always double speed after pausing. No longer is.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess that means it doesn't happen then

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Some of those updates are crucial. A lot of the times they are patches for bugs and such stuff.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

The problem is the updates often add more bugs than they fix.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I would be more than happy to make sure they push through. I would, however, love to know more than obfuscated "security issues".

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seriously.. ?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Yes. Seriously.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I still think I should be able to decide if I want to install them, they can warn me about the risks, but not force me.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can decide tho, there is lots of ways to disable Windows updates.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The small updates, yes, the big one from earlier this year, no

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ye you can, disable it in Local Group Policy

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That may be right but it shouldn't be that hard to disable it. If I wanted to have no control over my property, I'd buy an Apple product

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You need W10 pro for that
